Question:

Can you recommend trailer hitches that would work well with this pin box?

Hey Gary, I really like B and W fifth wheel hitches like the Patriot part # BWRVK3255 if you have a set of above bed rails or the Companion hitches are really nice too but they are designed to fit OEM puck kits or their Turnoverball rail kits. If I could get a little more info from you on your setup I could give you a more specific answer.

What truck do you have? How long is the bed? What trailer will you be towing?

Hello Jameson, Thanks for your reply. To give you some background...I have a Chevy Silverado 2500 Diesel truck with a standard bed and OEM Puck system for the hitch. I have just purchased a new trailer with the Curt Helux Pin Box which has caused some difficulty with the fifth wheel hitch I currently have in the truck. I have a DEMCO Autoslide hitch that I've used for the past five years. In order for it to be used with the new trailer a capture plate and new guard rails are required and I have had some difficulty connecting and unhooking the trailer in the few times I've done it so far. Although I expect these problems to be manageable with practice I am now thinking in terms of whether there might be a better match between the pin box and hitch to make my life easier. I am sold on the need for the autoslide hitch with my size truck but the dealer has suggested consideration of a puck hitch which I don’t know if I should consider for my towing needs. Any information you can provide to help me think through these issues is appreciated. Thanks.

@Gary We have a Pullrite auto sliding hitch that fits your OEM pucks with part # PUL83RR as well as a Demco that fits directly with the part # DM29GV. As far as autosliding options these are basically the only two solutions. The Helux is pretty new though so as far as a custom fit capture plate or brackets those are probably still on the way.

Thanks Jameson, The adapter capture plate and rails are now installed on my DEMCO hitch but I haven't towed with them yet. Seems like the DEMCO autoslide hitch that I have is OK for now if the adaptations work for the Curt Helux pin box but I do want to learn more about the gooseneck option is you have any thoughts on that.

@Gary To replace the Helux with a gooseneck adapter instead? Yeah that's a great option BUT if you need turning clearance like what your slider hitch provides that can't be accomplished with a gooseneck setup. That's really the only drawback to goosenecks is they don't have a great way to provide additional turning clearance like slider hitches.
