I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # TE54FR be installed when you are installing the receiver. This will give you a 4-way flat connector that is needed when towing small trailers. It can also be used to add Auxiliary Lights # C53201 if your hitch mounted accessory blocks the view of you Escape's taillights.
