Can You Still Use Hands Free Lift Gate On 2021 Honda Pilot With Trailer Hitch Receiver Installed
Updated 01/13/2021 | Published 01/11/2021 >
Question:
For the Curt hitch for the 2021 Honda Pilot, it is mentioned that it interferes with the hands-free sensor for opening the liftgate. Do you have any suggestions about a workaround like moving the sensor? Wed like to buy the hitch but want to be sure we wont disable the sensor in the process. Thanks

Helpful Expert Reply:
As you mentioned all of the trailer hitch receivers confirmed to fit your 2021 Honda Pilot including the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13146 you were looking at will limit the functionality of the lift gate sensor.
To avoid any issues you can install the lift gate sensor relocation kit which is Honda Part Number I08L91-TG7-100C, and can be purchased from your local Honda dealership.
This relocation kit moves the sensor out from underneath the receiver allowing you to retain the use of the lift gate feature.
If you can tell me what you are planning on using your trailer hitch receiver for, I would be happy to recommend the best products for your application.
I included a video of the Curt # C13146 being installed on a 2020 Honda Pilot for you to take a look at.
