Haul More with Confidence: Class III Strength and 2" Receiver

This hitch is built for everyday hauling and weekend adventures alike. With a 5,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 750 lbs maximum tongue weight (or 6,000 lbs GTW and 750 lbs TW when using weight distribution), it’s ready for small campers, boats, or loaded cargo trays. The 2" x 2" receiver opening fits the most common bike racks, cargo carriers, and ball mounts, so you can swap accessories without adapters or guesswork.

Built to Last with a Rugged Matte Black Finish

The fully welded steel construction and matte black powder coat finish give this hitch a tough, carbide-like look that hides dirt, scuffs, and dings better than glossy coatings. The protective base coat underneath adds another layer of corrosion resistance, helping it stay solid through years of towing and road grime.

Comparison image showing matte carbide finish versus glossy black finish on trailer hitches, illustrating texture and shine differences for the etrailer hitch receiver.

Close-up comparison of matte carbide and glossy finishes on trailer hitch metal surfaces to demonstrate durability and appearance differences.

Simple Bolt-On Install—No Welding or Drilling

You don’t need a lift or welding setup to get this hitch on your vehicle. It bolts directly to the frame using the included hardware kit and installs with standard tools. The precision robotic welding ensures everything lines up perfectly for a clean fit that doesn’t require cutting or modifications.

Ready for Work or Play: Hidden Cross Tube Design

The concealed cross tube keeps most of the hitch tucked up under the bumper, leaving only the receiver visible for a clean look that blends in with your vehicle’s lines. It’s strong, functional, and built to handle towing duties without compromising the style of your ride.

Have not been able to install. Bolts did not fit. Waiting for second set of hardware and will probably have to re-tap the nuts. Much more work than explained by trailer.

by:

I was sent the wrong mounting bolts. The original order took 2 days to arrive, but now I have been waiting for 4 for a bag of bolts that fit to come. I would have thought they would overnight the small package to try and remedy my inconvenience ASAP.

by:

Easiest installation I’ve ever done. Hitch is made with heavy metal and looks great.

by:

This fit perfect and looks great!
Delivery
was also quick.
Thanks to Etrailer Team!

Heavy duty and easy to install. Arrived 2 days faster than expected!

@Sharon Thanks for your positive feedback and I'm glad to hear that's working out for you! What do you tow or haul with your hitch? Have you taken any fun trips with it?

by:

The install of this etrailer hitch couldn't have been any more straightforward - just six bolts and you're done. I'd definitely suggesting having a helper if only to have them hold up one side of the hitch while you hand tighten some bolts, but I was able to do this solo with the help of a few jack stands on the ends and a floor jack in the middle.

The end result looks nice and clean. The matte finish really matches the 2024 Honda Passport rear panel well, much more so than a glossy finish would. The hitch itself appears to be very well made, and at a very reasonable price.

by:

Brought this for my son's car. Received hitch in about 3 days which is incredible. We put the hitch on in about 30 minutes.

by:

The hitch arrived quickly and came with all mounting hardware and the instructions to install it. The installation was straightforward. Excellent product.

by:

Well, the hitch is correct, but I recieved the wrong hardware. The bolts do not fit in the frame nuts on my passport. Yes, I cleaned out the holes first, but no matter what I tried, they're just too big. ?? But on the plus side, once I get the appropriate bolts, everything should fit nicely! The pics show the bolt size I got, and one that, while not the correct length, outfit the proper diameter to actually fit my vehicle.

by:

Bolted right up. Came with hardware. No alignment issues at all. Hitch is very well built and sturdy

by:

Incredibly fast delivery. Great quality trailer hitch. Would not hesitate to recommend.

by:

So far so good. Received box next day and free shipping was reason I ordered from here. Hitch was perfect for my car. Was a little tough putting it in by myself. But the bolts went in flawlessly.

Kevin kept me up to date with status

by:

Shipping was prompt, trailer hitch was super-easy to install

by:

Fast shipping, poor packaging (the box damaged on both sides where the bolt holes are, maybe some foam packaging may help), interesting how UPS took a pic of the intact side of the box, hence the 4 stars, minor scuff on 1 side, install requires 2 people to thread the bolts in all holes. Install surprisingly easy as indicated via the video, very thankful the bolt holes aligned with the holes in the chassis….The greatest difficulty was torquing the bolts to spec, took numerous attempts. Item appears very durable & hopefully the lifetime warranty will not be utilized although thankful to have it.

by:

Extremely fast shipping and the customer service was A1. Fitment was perfect and the installation was a breeze. I absolutely love the matte finish.

by:

The hitch reciever has worked well for us. Was easy to install on our Honda Passport. No complaints. ETrailer.com is a great service!

@Cody Glad it's still working well for you! Are you using it for towing or for something else?

by:

Hitch and harness installed flawlessly.
Fast
shipping and great communication from etrailer.
Youtube harness video was very helpful.

by:

Shipping was very fast, price was reasonable compared to other places, and installation went smoothly. Took about 30 minutes to get it done, and works great for our bike rack!

by:

No issues at all, install was straight forward and the receiver fit perfectly. Only issue I had was the threaded collars were a bit rusted so I had to purchase a thread chaser to clean them up. Other than that I would highly recommend etrailer!

by:

This seems fine, just can't tow anything because the wiring harness and mounting bracket were not included with the shipment, even though there was a quantity check by the warehouse guy. Very disappointed

by:

It was east to install and fits perfectly. Hangs a bit lower than an OEM hitch but for the price you can’t beat this. Used two jack stands to hold it in place, and borrowed a torque wrench to make sure it was secure.

From opening the box to putting my tools away 10 minutes
The motorcycle lift was the easy key .
Nice fit, bolts and washers included, only thing missing was a cap. Nice how the weld bolts were already on, made the job easy

4.5 stars... Very good experience with Etrailer. Only issue is one hole in the hitch had to be dremeled a bit larger because it was fractionally off from the frame mount. The matte black finish is attractive and the hitch receiver tucks up close to the bumper.

  • Complete Tow Package for 2020 Honda Pilot to Tow 5,000 Camper with Brakes, Hitch, Wiring, Ball Mount
Hello Lewis, I can definitely get you set up with the correct towing components to get you out on the road to adventure! You’ll want to check your owner’s manual to see what Honda says you can tow, just because the hitches are rated that high doesn’t mean you should be towing that much weight. - Hitch: Just as long as your camper is no more than 5,000 pounds, a Class IV isn’t necessary. I would go with our etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit Class III - 2" # e44AR. I really...

Hey Dennis, thanks for reaching out about the etrailer Hitch # e44AR and wiring parts (listed below)! You won't need to trim or remove any panels for the hitch or the brackets to fit on your 2024 Honda Passport. You'll need to bend the no-drill bracket to clear the rear panel and you can choose to trim it if you wish, but it won't be a necessity. - Curt Wiring # C56291 - Mounting Brackets # 18144 and # C57202

  • Does Install of etrailer Hitch on 2023 Honda Passport Require Rear Fascia Replacement
Hey Sean, the install of the etrailer hitch part # e44AR does not require replacing the lower fascia with a different one. That seems to be the case for the OEM hitch which sits up higher but not this hitch which fits below the rear bumper. This can definitely handle the weight of a bike rack or cargo carrier as well. Do you have those racks already?

Hey Alvaro, yes the etrailer hitch part # e44AR does come with everything needed to install in your 2021 Honda Passport. You don't need trailer wiring/lighting to carry a bike rack either so you wouldn't need to worry about that. That's basically for if you plan to tow a trailer and need to operate it's taillights.
