There are specific directions about flat towing your 2020 Ford Escape in your owner's manual; you will want to go to page 282, which is where I found them in the online manual. I strongly recommend verifying them in your copy of the manual. The directions state:
• Place your vehicle in Neutral Tow mode with the following steps:
• Switch your vehicle on in accessory mode
• Press the menu button on the controls on the steering wheel
• Select Settings
• Select Neutral Tow
• Follow the instructions on the information display
• Fully press the brake pedal
• Shift into neutral (N)
• Switch the ignition off
Then, in order to flat tow your 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid, you will need a number of different parts, which are the following:
- Base Plate Kit: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM39FR
- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-522
- Safety Chains: Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables # RM-653
- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267
- Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit # RM-88400
- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251
OR
- For a motorhome with air brakes: Demco SBS Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motorhomes with Air Brakes # SM99243
You may also need a high-low adapter such as # RM-048-4 in order to keep your tow bar level, and I've added a link to a help article which shows you how to determine if you need an adapter, as well as a link to our selection of adapters. Additionally, I have added links below to instruction manuals and video reviews for you to take a look at.
