Question:

The kit appears to only include a charging line. Is it assumed that a ground line from the 6 pin connector to the chassis is already in place?

The Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles part # RM-156-25 does not require any additional ground. In regards to the trailer connector on the tow vehicle or toad vehicle these will both be grounded as will the batteries that the charge line connects to. In order to bridge the charge line from the motorhome to the toad, the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit part # RM-15267 is my recommendation since there is an extra pin present to use for the charge line.
