Question:
2010 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3/6spd/3.42- I am looking to replace the factory round tube hitch with a square tube, and had pretty much decided to go with the Curt 15522 model since most of it is hidden like the factory hitch, while having the highest rating as a bonus. Is there a reason you E-trailer have stopped carrying this model? I know the Curt 14301 is the same style, but with a slightly lower rating. Just thought I would go with the highest rated model even if it is over my truck rating since they were very close in price. Or is there model you prefer, and any reason why if so?

First, Curt hitch 15522 is going to be replaced with a new model and design so the old hitch will be obsoleted at some point.
If the factory hitch is bolted on then you can install a different hitch. If it is welded on you will not be able to use a different hitch. For the most capacity then use Curt hitch # C15323. It is rated for 16,000 pounds gross trailer weight. It also has the square tube design. I have linked instructions for you.
Since these ratings exceed the ability of your truck, I would go with hitch # 14301 since it is the design you want and it is less costly than the Class V hitches.
