I didn't find any information on this site regarding if this would fit under a ranch hand bumper replacement. But luckily it did. It mounted right up as stated. I believe my spare tire is stock, and that also fit right back into place. The hitch has much more beef to it than stock. I haul a lot of different heavy trailers, both bumper pulls and goosenecks, can't wait to see how this unit works out.

This is a great hitch. Very sturdy, gives great peace of mind. This hitch can handle a heavier trailer than the truck could.

2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Very pleased with the hitch and fast shipping. I installed by myself in less than an hour. My pics show how to use 3 pieces of rope to lift and hold without hardly any physical lifting on my part. One rope at the rear up to the bumper a one on each front bolt hole to the front bolt hole in the truck frame. Just keep shortening the ropes until it’s tight to the frame and install bolts. Very easy. Factory spare tire still fits.

2011 Ford F-250 Super Duty

This is a great replacement for the factory hitch on my 2011 F-250 Super Duty Crew Cab short bed truck, except it doesn't have all of the holes needed to attach the factory wiring harness (3 holes missing) or the trailer plug bracket (2 drilled and tapped holes). I drilled (17/32") and tapped (m8-1.25) the two holes needed for the trailer plugs, so they're back in place just fine. For the wiring harness, I just zip tied it in place for now. In my experience that will last about 3-5 years where it's at. Also, my factory sized full size spare just barely fit. When lifting the tire back into place you do have to push the tire back and forth to make sure you get it in just the right spot. See the pictures to see how much clearance there is - around 1" total.

There also was a hole that should've been drilled or a cutout that should've been included for the head of one of the bolts that holds in the charcoal (EVAP) canister. Because this wasn't included, the frame rail got bent when torquing down the nuts for this hitch. I included a picture of this as well. This item, more than any other small gripe I had above, is what cost this product one star.

I can also state that this fits well under the Ranch Hand Ford Sport Back Bumper that came on my used truck.

All in all though, I really like the hitch and I think it'll do great for the next thing I need to tow - a 90's 1/2 ton truck on a rental bumper pull vehicle trailer.

by:
2006 Ford F-250 Super Duty

The factory hitch had rusted completely through. This hitch from e-trailer looks like it will outlast my truck. The construction is far superior to the factory hitch. I was concerned that it would hang down and look silly since it doesn’t have the same contour of the bumper as the factory hitch does. But this hitch fits nicely under the truck and looks like it belongs there. Installation was simple with the included hardware and instructions.

I think the install looks great! Great job.

by:
2007 Ford F-250 Super Duty

It was an exact fit. I'm 60 and with a couple of jack stands I had it in stalled in less than an hour. Instructions didn't mention it but I also used blue loctite on the bolts and the 7 pin/4 pin connector did not have any holes to connect it so I drilled 2 holes 1/4" into the hitch used original bolts and a nut driver to get them in place. Most people would not have that mechanical knowledge so in future there should be pre drilled holes for that. Overall good experience.

by:
2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty

The hitch receiver looks good. I used it to replace my factor Ford F350 hitch receiver for higher tongue weight ratings. Note that this hitch does not come with mounting holes for the factory wiring bundles that the factory hitch receiver had for wire attachment devices. I had to drill my own.
Also note that the etrailer shipping box was not well prepared. My hitch box came with holes and parts of the hitch sticking out. Luckily everything was there and no significant damages or scratches. etrailer really needs to improve their shipping process. No padding or wrapping inside the box to prevent this shipping damage was inside.

by:
Ford F-350 Super Duty

Very stout. Just enough room on an ‘04 F-350 to keep the factory 7 pin plug. Plenty of room for factory spare tire. 1 person install in about 45 min. Great value.

by:
2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty

This hitch is beefy! More heavy duty than stock hitch for 08 F350. Also comes with bolts.

by:
Ford Transit Connect

Hitch is fine. The box/shipping materials however were DEE-STROYED in transit. Never seen anything like it before. I know it's a large, heavy piece but it could do with a little better packaging

@Fred Nice! What have you been towing with it?

by:
2006 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Price is perfect, shipping was fast! As others have noted, the box arrived a little beat up. But that is to be expected with a heavy chunk of steel inside a cardboard box. Contents were packaged so there is no chance of missing parts.

Installation wasn’t bad. Use a large breaker bar or a heavy duty impact wrench to remove factory bolts. 350,000+ mile F350 from the rust belt came off with some muscle. This hitch lines up perfectly utilizing the Ford factory centering nubs.

One thing to note is that this hitch will require lowering your spare tire as it has a straight square tube instead of Ford’s factory bent tube that wraps around the spare tire. See pictures.

Installation for me took a little over 1 hour due to a lost security key for the spare tire winch. Ended up deciding to cut the winch cable and replace the winch. With a heavy duty impact wrench and the ability to lower your spare tire, complete installation should take no more that a half hour.

2002 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Excellent fit and finish. Definitely heavy duty. Should’ve replaced the stock hitch when purchased new in 2002. Not sure how exactly the original hasn’t failed compared to this unit. Fast shipping as always, Thanks!

by:

Great product! A major improvement from the factory hitch. Easy to install, but I did have to remove the spare tire from under the truck to install.

by:

Trailer hitch is leaps and bounds better than the factory hitch I removed. It's beefy and very well made, and I highly recommend! My only complaint is the packaging left a lot to be desired and unfortunately the really nice matt black paint was worn off in a few spots due to the really poor packaging. I get that it is a very heavy item and shipping companies are not going to care for it during transit. It totally could be wrapped better using additional packing products to protect it before it's packed in the box.

by:
1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty

bolt holes lined up exactly but there was an issue with the rest of the hitch lining up exactly. We were able to modify. The hitch is quite beefy

by:

Solid hitch , no problems gets the job done. F250 powerstroke towing 14k trailer almost everyday for the last year

by:
2006 Ford F-250 and F-350 Super Duty

Installed very easy. Very stout. Poor box it was shipped in was beat up. Could have expanding foam to keep the hitch from moving and beating up box. As stated in some reviews, the stock location for the electrical connection for the trailer could not be used. I just drilled a hole in the bumper above stock location to mount the trailer plug. This will keep the plug out of the way. See picture.

great product at a great price, would recommend this hitch to anyone looking

by:
2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty

This hitch receiver was a direct fit for my 2000 F250. It took about 40 minutes to complete the whole job, and I definitely recommend having a helper. Other wise the job would have taken much longer.

I was amazed at how much bigger the curt receiver hitch is compared to the factory hitch. Definitely worth the purchase.

by:
1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty

Works great, all the bolts fit as advertised without any drilling. Super easy.

I Love it , For the tow rating i wish it would have had a 2.5 to 2 inch reducer built in. It comes with only a 2 inch sleeve.

  • How to Prevent Hitch Pin Hole Deformity
It is not extremely uncommon for the hitch pin hole on a trailer hitch receiver to become oblong after frequent usage. This is usually attributed to frequent back and forth movement of the shank inside the receiver tube opening that in time will deform the hitch pin hole. A good way to prevent or reduce this would be to use an anti-rattle device like part # GY88XR. Since the hitch pin hole on your existing trailer hitch has become deformed then I do recommend replacement as the problem...
