Question:
I am in the market for a used suburban, likely 2019 to replace an older suburban that has a hitch and standard 7 plug. I do not have a brake controller for electric brakes. The replacement suburban i want to make sure I can install a brake controller as I do also have a landscape trailer I tow with an older chevy truck. My question is, as I look at used suburbans, quite a few on-line, do I need to make sure the vehicle has a tow package or trailer package? I seem to read different information that is unclear. Thanks in advance.

Just about every full sized domestic SUV and truck will be equipped with a factory hitch and 7-way. If it lacks the factory 7-way, there will be a round US CAR connector under the rear bumper or above the spare tire that would plug into a connector like # HM40975.
The Suburban will be equipped with the connection under the dash for the brake controller located in the junction box behind the emergency brake pedal as shown in the install video I've linked for you.
If you don't already have a brake controller, I'd recommend the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. The Primus is an easy to use, inexpensive and very effective brake controller. You'll also need the # 3016 wiring harness.
