Are There Torque Specs For A B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch Head Tilting Spring

Updated 01/12/2026 | Published 08/28/2024

Question:

I have a Model 3270 fifth wheel hitch. I am looking for the torque specs for the bolt the goes thru the saddle for the tilt. I had to remove mine because the grease would no longer flow. I thought if I look at just the head it would give that torque. since it was not with the 3270 paper work that came with the hitch install Thanks, Jay

Hi Jay,

I've sent an update in to get the instructions for the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # BWRVK3270 fixed on the product page so they'll be easier to find. As for the lock nut spring there isn't a torque spec so you'll just get it oriented correctly and then just tighten the 1/4" lock nut hand tight with your wrench.

Hey Jay, how did things go after tightening the lock nut on your Patriot hitch? Your update could make it easier for others working on the same adjustment.

Sadly the info supplied was not what I was looking for. I did fined what I needed I had reach out to the manufacturer for the torque for the bolt that goes thru the hitch plate were the king pin locks in. Thanks for replying and checking back.

@Jay thanks for getting back to us! I'm happy you were able to find the info you needed. Is your grease now able to flow with the new bolt installed?
