The # C57672 will allow you to convert an existing 4 pin connector on a vehicle and allow it tow a trailer that has a 7-way. By attaching the mounting bracket to the underside of the bumper or chassis of the tow vehicle, plugging the 4 pin on the adapter into the existing 4 pin connector on the vehicle and attaching the white ground wire to the tow vehicle's frame or chassis, you'll be able to activate the lighting functions on your trailer. There will be three remaining wires on the adapter that would be used if your trailer has brakes, reverse lights and a need for a 12-volt power feed.
If the trailer has brakes, and you want them to actuate, you'd want to install a brake controller. The procedure for installing a brake controller would depend on the year, make and model of your tow vehicle. Rather than the adapter you mention, there are brake controller install kits that include the adapter plus all the wire and hardware needed to complete the installation. Some vehicles even have plug and play capability for a brake controller. If your trailer has brakes and you'd be interested in a brake controller, just reply with some more information about your tow vehicle and I'd be happy to make some recommendations.
I've linked you to some articles with more information about installing a brake controller, in case you needed it.
