One Side of the Tailgate Lifting with the Rack'Em Lift Assist Part # RA-27C

Question:

hi, i have installed the double barrel gate assist and when it is in the down position one corner of the gate lifts up about 5 inches. Ive tried to adjust by changing the position of the chain but when i do it gives me less support.

I spoke to my contact at Rack'Em about the Rack'Em Double Barrel Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist part # RA-27C and they informed me that the issue with the tailgate lifting on one side is due to the fact that the tailgate is not heavy enough for the spring that comes with the lift assist. They do not make a direct replacement spring for this lift assist but what you can do is take a trip down to your local hardware store and take a look at the garage door springs. There are various different weights of garage door springs so you will need to experiment on which one works best for you but this will be your only option.
