Question:
This regarding the rackem tailgate lift. The information state the rails should be up to 15 inches. Is there anyway it will work on a trailer with 23 inch sides? Thank you.

You can certainly use the Double Barrel with your trailer that has side rails taller than 15 inches. To mount the Rack'Em Double Barrel Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist # RA-27C to your trailer, you will want to fabricate a mounting location for the Double Barrel that is 10 - 15 inches from the floor of the trailer. The ideal mounting location is 12 inches above the trailer bed.
My contact at Rack'Em confirmed that this mounting location can be something as simple as angle iron bolted to the side of your trailer at the correct height. This imitation side rail for the Double Barrel can be mounted to the inside or outside of the trailer, whichever works best for your trailer.
Keep in mind that the chain of the lift will still need to be in a straight line, so the attachment point of the chain to the tailgate will need to be taken into account when deciding where to mount the Double Barrel housing.
The installation instructions for the Double Barrel are linked for you.
