Question:

Have 2003 Jeep Liberty with Roadmaster Base plate and Sterling tow bar. Will the tow bar work with a new base plate for a 2010 Jeep Liberty? #521434-1 ??

There are two sets of base plates that will fit a 2010 Jeep Liberty. If the Liberty has a rockguard or skidplate but no brushguard, you will need # 521434-1.

If the Liberty has no brushguard, rockguard, or skidplate, use # 521433-1. Both of these base plates are EZ models and are compatible with a Sterling tow bar.

You might also be interested in adding some safety cables or chains and a lighting kit as required by law. For safety cables, I recommend the RoadMaster 68 inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-643. For lights, there are two options. If you plan on towing the Liberty infrequently, I recommend the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, # RM-2120. If you plan on towing the Liberty often, I recommend the Tail Light Isolating Diode System with Wiring Harness, # 38955. I have included links to a demonstration video and an installation video for this diode kit below.

I also recommend checking with the manufacturer or owners manual for instructions on the proper procedure for towing your Liberty because some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed.
