this trailer lock fits a 2x2 hitch perfectly. I like the turn key style to prevent picking the lock. The cap that covers key lock fits snug. I just got it and like it. I hope it holds up well

by:

I wanted a Lock that was easy to use, and impossible to make a mistake that could leave it unlatched. After using it for a year, this lock does both, and was not expensive.
It is easy to use by actually turning the pin, and holding the key still, rather than trying to turn the key. And you know for sure it is properly latched because the lock end closes up to the side of the receiver

by:

Straight out of the box looks and feels great. Fits nice and snug inside the 2" Curt hitch receiver. Too early to comment on service life and durability under wet weather conditions but hope for good desired outcome.

Comments
No issues after a year of use and exposure to rain and frequent car wash treatments. Thanks for checking and you are welcome

The first time I used this it came apart and fell out of the hitch receiver. I had locked it and tested it but after 200 miles or so, it had come apart and fell out. I am very lucky that my trailer did not go flying down the road, it was close to coming off of the car though. So glad that I checked it at a gas stop.

Most will never believe this, but i ordered this locking pin to use in conjunction with the other pin that is the exact same as this one. Except the 1st pin has been installed and in service since late 2009. I used it to hold a hitch in the receiver tube of my motorhome that coupled our hauler trailer to the motorhome. I recently decided we would start flat towing a car, instead of the hauler trailer with the expedition on it.
so i needed one more locking hitch pin to use with the tow bar rise/drop receiver adapter. When i removed the first pin, i expected it to be rusty and not unlockable. SURPRISE, a little wd 40 in the key hole to aid in key insertion and BAM she unlocked and was clean as a whistle.
it was a no brainer to order an exact duplicate for use now.

still works perfect

Well, the pin looks great. It appears to be just as advertised, however. I ran into a problem in that I had ordered two pins to be keyed alike, but they are not. Stuff like that could happen anywhere. I got on the phone with etrailer and they are sending me a replacement. In my view, that is the mark of a great vendor to work with.

Comments
Well not quite a year, actually only a few days. A correctly keyed pin arrived today, I now have two pins that work with the same key. They work great with my Gen-Y hitch. As I anticipated in my prior review, etrailer promptly made things right. Getting both pins keyed the same is convenient. Between bike racks, tonneau cover, camper, racks, and one or two extras, I have a bunch of keys. Every key I can eliminate is a win.

Doesn't fit 2021 Tundra 2" receiver as it's too short and locking mechanism won't engage. However it does fit our 03 Tacoma so I'll keep it.

Comments
For the Toyota Tacoma with has a thicker 2 inch OEM receiver, I recommend part # e98881
etrailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" and 2-1/2" Hitches - Flush - 3-5/8" Span - Chrome
$21.74
which has a 3.62 inch span.

by:

by:

A great Hitch lock. Added it to my fleet and they matched it to my existing key.

by:

Good quality metal construction, good fit through hitch. Key insert does not jam with a little silicone lubricant as protection. Easy to lock and unlock

Comments
Still very satisfied with hitch lock. Very well made. Holds up well to road grime. Still easy to unlock and remove and re and lock to change out hitch covers.

This seems like a serviceable product but the bike rack I ordered with it unexpectedly included a better version of the same item that was also keyed to the rack. Thus I knew without opening the package that I did not need this lock. To my great frustration, eTrailer told me could only return it if I paid a $XX shipping fee for this small 12 oz item, leaving me with $X back.
So, it looks good it you need it but it's pretty frustrating if you don't.

by:

No complaints. Product is as advertised (purchased 2 of the same). One minor point - charges for "keyed alike" were minor - however only one set of keys had to be changed, to match the first lock - so charges should have been only 1 charge for the 'keyed alike'

by:

Very nice hitch lock

by:

I like how this locking pin works compared to others I've tried.

by:

It is great to have one key for all of my locking pins.

by:

This item should be a standard package item when ordering the trailer hitch.

by:

etrailer has been great to deal with on this and other orders. These fab / weld kit rollers are just the trick to help protect the tail end of my all-aluminum car hauler.

by:

All good.
We’ll done etrailer team.

My husband is a proud Bluewater Vietnam Navy Veteran, celebrating his 50th year anniversary of coming home. My husband is retired & I decided to get a trailer hitchcover for his old truck, to compliment his combat veteran's license plate.
While searching for a unique, eye catching hitchcover, I came across etrailer.com. The cover I chose is eye catching, unique & a sturdy heavy plastic. It was easy to install & the lock, purchased with it, will keep it in place!
He loved the cover - and the price! PS: Still young at heart!

by:

It's worked like a charm so far. The whole kit had everything we needed and I love the liberation I feel, knowing I can tow anywhere I need to go!

by:

Gives me piece of mind that my bike rack will still be attached to my motorhome.

by:

Great idea! Never have to worry about my bike carrier disappearing!

by:

These work okay. It's also nice being able to have all of the locks keyed the same.
I purchased two, One for a 2-5/16" coupler a year earlier and this one for a 2" coupler. The larger one is still working okay, but this one failed after about 9 months. Not sure if defective or poor quality. Waiting to see how the other one holds up.

by:

Excellent product. Should deter sticky fingers. Thank you E-trailer.
