Question:
I have a 2024 Land Rover Defender and I’m trying to tow a 20’ Airstream Basecamp. Because of the spare tire on the back of the Defender, and where the power jack is mounted on the Airstream, I can’t get close enough to connect the trailer to the vehicle. I’ve been considering a hitch extension but I want to know which one is the best. Can you recommend products that will help me solve this issue, please?

Hey Ben! All of the hitch extenders like the Gen-Y item # GY89SR are going to reduce your hitch's capacity by 50% so I am not sure that's going to work with your Land Rover's towing capacity. So long as you are not using a ball mount with a bunch of drop the easiest way to get some extra distance is to use the Hidden Hitch Ball Mount item # 80232.
The Hidden Hitch Ball Mount item # 80232 is 15-3/4" long from the hitch pin hole to the center of the hitch ball. It does have 2" of drop built into it and plenty of capacity at 6,000 lbs.
For a 2" hitch ball you would need item # 63845 or item # C40005 for a 2-5/16" hitch ball.
Additionally, you will want to pick up the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches item # e98880. This will secure your ball mount from theft.

Thanks, Jerred. Can you confirm this is safe for my vehicle and the trailer I’m towing? I just want to double check the weight is going to be okay. Also, do you recommend any anti-sway setup that can be used with the unibody design of the Land Rover?
