Features to know about

Seamless Connections Every Time: Molded 7-Way Trailer Connector

Say goodbye to fidgety and unreliable trailer connections with the Hopkins 7-Way Molded Trailer Wire Connector. This heavy-duty molded design ensures your plug won’t pull apart or let you down, even in the most demanding towing scenarios. With a solid 4-foot cord length, it’s just right for your trailer’s setup—no more short, frustrating stretches.

Organized Wiring with a Purpose: Pre-Wired for Efficient Installations

This 7-way connector comes pre-wired with appropriately sized gauges: 14 Gauge for red, brown, green, and yellow; 12 Gauge for blue; and 10 Gauge for white and black. This intelligent design ensures proper power flow for each function, from brake power to tail lights, all contained within a robust, all-weather shield. This arrangement simplifies the installation process to a mere 10-minute task, even for first-timers.

Durability that Stands the Test of Time: Built to Last

Constructed with top-notch materials, this connector is made to brave the elements, whether it's rain or shine. Perfect for long-lasting performance, it features excellent insulation and flexibility, offering superior protection from rocks, debris, and other road hazards. Many users testify to its high quality, noting its capability to function seamlessly even a year after installation.

Flexibility in Cold Climates: Stays Functional in Chilly Weather

Unlike other connectors that become stiff in colder temperatures, the Hopkins 7-Way Molded Connector remains flexible, allowing you to easily connect and disconnect your trailer without battling frozen cords. This is ideal for those who frequently tow in various weather conditions, ensuring smooth operation no matter the season.

Uncompromised Power Flow: Varied Wire Gauge for Optimal Distribution

Designed with different wire gauges, it ensures that heavier loads like the brake power (using 10-gauge wire) have ample strength, while other functions maintain efficiency with lighter gauges. This thought-out distribution prevents weak links in your trailer’s electrical system, keeping each feature running smoothly from the ground to auxiliary functions.

Installation Made Easy: Compatible with Standard 7-Way Connectors

Perfectly designed to fit with industry-standard 7-way connectors, you won’t have to worry about compatibility with your vehicle’s towing setup. If you’re updating an older trailer or switching setups, this connector allows simple integration without complicated modifications. Just match each wire to its trailer counterpart by function for a worry-free setup.

My old plug came loose going down the road and wore a big flat spot that made it hard to tell which way to plug it in. This new one is a huge improvement!

Still working great. I recommend this to replace old worn out connections!

by:

Used this on my snowmobile trailer. The cable outer jacket is to rigid (Not flexible). Gets worse in colder temps. Don't recommend it for cold use. Picture is in garage at 53F. Cable is so stiff it won't fall on the floor.

by:

I keep forgetting to put dialectric grease in my trailer electrical plugs but these cables are easy to replace when using the terminal strip junction boxes.

by:

Looks well made and what I like most and why I bought this one was because of the newer style plug that comes in it. I have yet to test it out but I got it wired up.

by:

This is a replacement to the one that i already have. The last one was damaged from some road debris. Excellent product

by:

Worked great, easy to connect and fix my trailer wiring. Not complicated, so not much more to say.

by:

Great products. Good shipping. Detailed Instructions with videos and pics.

by:

Exactly as described and works as inten ded!

by:

Good quality.

by:

Worked great for my application. The wire colors for 7 way plugs aren't universal so I had to pull up a pinout of a 7 way plug and ohm out the wires to the plug to confirm what went where. But the quality of the plug is excellent. After a year of use on a salt water boat trailer it works great. Just makes sure you heat shrink your butt splices and a little dielectric grease in the plug goes a long way.

by:

Right now 3 stars. Received the connector 12 Oct 2021. The cord on the trailer had the same connector on it which worked if you manipulated the pins to make connection (reason for replacing). The wiring colors on trailer, old connector snd new connector are the same, so adding new connector wasn’t a problem. When I plugged into the vehicle and tried the lights, nothing worked properly. The only time any lights came on was when right turn or hazard switches were activated and ALL the lights on trailer came on flashing. Tried the connection on 2 vehicles with same result. Called etrailer and they are sending another connector. Will give update then.

by:

Great customer service

by:

Nice made a clean job of wiring but I should have gotten the lounger one and cut a little off my bad

by:

This is 2nd one I have ordered. I put one on my enclosed trailer and love it. It is very sturdy and well made.

by:

The quality of this trailer plug connector should make it last forever! The seal at the end will withstand the constant bending and twisting that this daily-use utility trailer will put to it. The blade style RV plug end will fit any factory equipped pickup receptacle so I can use multiple tow vehicles.

Still working fine after a year in my Coastal saltycorrosive weather.

When I ordered this harness I thought I was getting a standard 7 way for a conventional trailer with brakes. What I actually got was a harness made for a camper/RV hook up. The wires have all the colors you would expect but all the lights/turn signals are coded into the plug completely different. After spending a good deal of time carefully matching, soldering and heat shrinking all connections to my new trailer harness, I was very dismayed to find only the brakes actually worked. After a bit of research I found a schematics page on the etrailer site and discovered the problem. As this is a molded plug I could not take it apart and just reposition the wires inside the plug. Another full hour or more of rewiring followed and now all is well. The harness itself is of very good quality but was not labeled/identified properly. This could have been prevented if etrailer would clearly label this harness as a camper/RV harness only.

by:

Ordered 1/28 - showed shipped 2/1 with estimated delivery date of 2/6. It had a USPS tracking number that would only show the label was created. Never showed the product moved. After two contacts with customer service I was told they can't track the package until a certain date. I was notified 2/17 my package would be delivered that day. Not sure what contract etrailer has with USPS but I can track a tin of cookies to Pittsburgh, PA I think they can tell me where my $[XX] package of parts is at.

by:

Bought a 20 year old horse trailer and needed to rewire it. The original pigtail had a 6 terminal plug, my new pick-up had a flat four and a 7 pin. When I bought it the guy gave me a 6 to 7 pin adapter but it didn't allow electric brakes. They are required in my state for a trailer over 1500 lbs. Think trailer with two horses. So I bought this pigtail. It is top quality and has large gauge wiring. I also needed break-away switch so I needed a battery. This pig-tail has #10 wires for both 30 amps (+12V) and Chassis ground. This really puts a charge in the trailer battery. (would do the same for an RV) Then #14 wire for the brake signal. This plugs right into the seven pin plug on my pickup with the tow package. Highly recommend.

by:

This is definitely a good quality molded cord for the money. Route and wire this cord into a good quality junction box and you will be on your way to having some excellent trailer wiring.

by:

I fabricated a receiver hitch motorcycle rack, I used trailer wiring and led lights, so I have lights on the rack. Just plug it in to the truck trailer plug. Good quality and instructions with etrailer supply's.Thanks
