The Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector is designed for a seamless plug-and-play installation. Simply connect it directly into your vehicle’s existing wiring, eliminating complicated and time-consuming setups. Maintain Your Vehicle's Performance: ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

Avoid overloading your vehicle's electrical system with the built-in ModuLite power module. It efficiently combines your vehicle's brake and turn signals to match your trailer's two-wire system, ensuring seamless compatibility without affecting your vehicle's tail lights. By drawing power directly from your car’s battery, it ensures your trailer’s lights stay bright and dependable without straining the existing circuits.

Reliable Power for All Your Adventures: Multi-Pole Compatibility

Whether you're towing a trailer with a 4-pole, 5-pole, or 6-pole, the versatile design of the Tekonsha wiring harness has you covered. With support for various adapter types (sold separately), your towing setup becomes more flexible and versatile, ensuring you're prepared for every adventure with a strong and reliable connection.

Perfect Fit for Any Vehicle: Custom-Fit, Secure Installation

Designed with the diverse needs of drivers in mind, this harness is a custom fit for specific vehicle models, ensuring that your Honda Pilot or Ridgeline integrates seamlessly with the system. The secure connection point, located behind the rear bumper on the driver's side, keeps your towing wiring out of sight and tangle-free. A recommended mounting bracket (sold separately) helps keep everything securely fastened and stable.

Durability That Lasts: Heavy-Duty 16-Gauge Bonded Wire Construction

Built to last, the wiring harness is constructed with heavy-duty 16-gauge bonded wire, providing a durable solution for all your towing needs. This robust construction ensures the system withstands the demands of frequent trailering while protecting against wear and tear. The harness will continue to perform season after season, ensuring reliability no matter the journey distance.

Installation Instructions

This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness. You will have to remove some interior paneling to access this harness. The connection point for the 7-way tow harness is located behind the rear bumper, on the driver's side. The Modulite plugs into the factory wiring harness within the driver's-side storage compartment in your rear cargo area. Once you've plugged in the Modulite, insert the included fuses and relays into your fuse panel as indicated in the instructions.

Once installation is complete, the 7-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

ModuLite Powered Tail Light Converter

A ModuLite power module is built into this T-One connector. Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of your trailer. This power module functions as a tail light converter to combine the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights.

Note

This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.

With a ModuLite, your trailer's lights will be powered without overloading your vehicle's electrical system. Because the module draws power directly from your car's battery and bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.

Purchased the Honda Trailer Wiring Package 118253. Kit came right away. Had more parts than I thought were necessary, but I was wrong. The relays and fuses all plugged right in. The cable connector mated perfectly and VOILA' we were ready.

Thanks

Product exactly as described. I'm not a "car guy" and the video made all the difference - showed exactly how to do it and gave me the confidence to buy the product. Also, the video pointed out what tools and additional parts were necessary to complete the installation - enabled me to get everything before starting installation. Total time to install (and I took my time): <30 min.

Honda Pilot

2010 Honda Pilot EX-L This product will work with 2009-2010 Honda Pilot's because they are pre-wired to accept this product. This product will cost you $180 if you buy at the dealer so great savings. The install is pretty easy until you get to the last step. You are supposed to remove the protective cap from the wiring assembly under the rear bumber. Important: the cap has a very small plastic tab on the top of the cap which is hard to see and hard to access. You need to pull the tab upward to release the cap and the assembly from the hanger.

by:
Honda

All this needs is a cheap bracket to make it perfect. You can just bolt it thru the plastic and a backing plate, but it has a lot of give when you plug it in, but probably ok. I spent half a day fashioning a metal plate and it is rock solid. Bottom line: the savings is great if you dont mind a loose fit. If you want it solid, weigh your time against the $120 you save over the Honda kit and make that decsion. Mine is now better than the Honda kit.

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring For 2011 Honda Pilot
You are correct there are dramatic differences in the trailer wiring for your 2011 Pilot. I called my contact at Tekonsha and asked about your vehicle. If you are wanting a 4-way trailer connector on your Pilot you can use part # 118491. There is no cutting or splicing into the wiring on your vehicle. If you want a 7-way trailer connector on your Honda you can use part # 118253.

  • Where Does Converter Box of Tow Ready Wiring 118253 Install on a 2012 Honda Ridgeline RT
The 7-Way Harness part # 118253 that you referenced is a confirmed fit for your 2012 Honda Ridgeline. I spoke with my contact at Tow Ready and he said that the harness that the black converter box plugs into on your vehicle is behind the kick plate on the driver side. So the panel to left of where the driver's feet will be is what you would need to remove to install the box.

  • How to Find the Towing Capacity of a 2011 Honda Pilot 4WD
According to the owner's manual the maximum towing capacity of your 2011 Honda Pilot depends on the number of occupants. It maxes out at 4,500 pounds if you only have 2 people in the vehicle and decreases if you add more passengers. This is the 4-wheel drive model like you have, this decreased to 3,500 pounds for the 2-wheel drive model. This figure assumes each person weighs an average of 150 pounds and is seated from the front of the vehicle back. So the two passengers need to be...

The easiest way to install 6-way wiring on your 2011 Honda Ridgeline will be to start with a 7-way that's custom fit for your vehicle like the Tekonsha part # 118253 and then use a 7-way to 6-way adapter # HM47570 to match the 6-way on your trailer.

This gives you a standard 7-way wiring but then you'd need to replace the 7-way socket with a Hopkins part # 30955 and you have the combined 4-way and 7-way you are looking for.

But you can add one. To add a 7-Way you will first need to install a 4-Way using wiring harness # 118400. Then you can install 4- and 7-Way kit # ETBC7 to add the 7-Way and retain use of a 4-Way as well. I have linked some videos that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you. • Should Fuse or Circuit Breaker Be Used When Installing Trailer Brake Controller
I would not recommend using fuses instead of a circuit breaker when installing a brake controller like the Primus IQ # TK90160. While it does protect the circuit it also totally kills the circuit till the fuse is replaced. A breaker will reset eventually which will lower the risk of you being without trailer brakes when towing in the event of a short. I'd strongly recommend you replace the fuses with a 30 amp breaker like part # 38630.
