Question:

I have a 2011 Honda Pilot that came with the from the factory but no trailer light hook up. Which trailer light kit would i need to purchase to fit this application as the 2 options for with tow package or without tow package are dramatically different

You are correct there are dramatic differences in the trailer wiring for your 2011 Pilot. I called my contact at Tekonsha and asked about your vehicle.

If you are wanting a 4-way trailer connector on your Pilot you can use part # 118491. There is no cutting or splicing into the wiring on your vehicle.

If you want a 7-way trailer connector on your Honda you can use part # 118253.

Hooked it up and nothing worked. No electric at the plug. Really put me in a bind. Had to attach flashlights to the trailer .

Did you check to make sure all the fuses and relays were securely attached? Other than a bad box (which would be really rare for a brand new harness) this is the only reason I can think of that would prevent any power from reaching the 4-Way.

@ChrisR I got it to work. Seems some chipmunks chewed on some wires underneath. I had to splice wires and use connectors to get it to work. All is good. Pulled the trailer 1100 miles in two days. Thanks.
