Question:
Honda Pilot 2010. Purchased Item # 118253 which will plug into the vehicles factory connection under rear bumper as directions say. For this to happen, I need to separate existing Pilot wiring harness in order to plug in #118253, right? What am I separating in the Pilot wiring when I do this? I wouldnt be disconnecting tail lights, etc, on the Pilot would I? I hope my question is clear.

The Honda Pilot Factory Tow Package Wiring, part # 118253, you have referenced will provide a 7-Way trailer connection at the rear of the vehicle, as long as your 2010 Honda Pilot has the Factory Tow Package. That means it is wired from the factory with the plug under the rear bumper which will accept a 7-Way trailer connector. It comes with the necessary fuses, relays, and converter box to add the 7-Way.
I am including a link to the installation instructions on the # 118253 kit. The installation of # 118253 does not require any separating of the existing wiring harness. You will locate and open the storage compartment on the drivers side of the rear cargo area. Inside the storage compartment is an access panel that you will open and find a grey tow plug that will plug into the included converter box.
Next, you will locate the fuse panel in the rear cargo area on the driver side, next to the rear seats that are in the folded position. Open the fuse compartment and insert 2 relays and 3 fuses as shown in the included instructions.
The remaining 2 fuses will be installed in the fuse box located in the engine compartment on the drivers side.
With all of the fuses and relays installed you can then plug in the wiring harness to the plug underneath your bumper and attach the 7-Way connector to your vehicles bumper.
