Tail Lights Not Working After Installing Trailer Harness On 2011 Honda Pilot

Updated 04/02/2015 | Published 04/01/2015

Question:

I installed a Curt 7 pin trailer connector to my 2011 Honda Pilot. everything works except for the tail lights. Brake lights, blinkers, hazards all work correctly. I tried it on 2 different trailers one with a 7 pin and one with a 4 pin adapter. Its the same on both. I installed all fuses according the diagram. Any help would be appreciated.

On your 2011 Honda Pilot I found there are 3 fuse panels.

The secondary fuse panel located under the hood near the battery is where the slot for the trailer taillights is located. You will need to make sure you install the included 30-amp fuse in the number 3 slot. Check to make sure that the fuse is good if you do have the fuse inserted.

If everything checks out on the fuse panel you will want to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to check the wire going into the modulite converter. If you find you are not getting any power going into the converter you may have a bad fuse port and need to have that fixed. If you have power going into the converter but not coming out, the converter may be bad and need to be replaced.

I have attached a link to an installation video for this wiring harness on a 2011 Honda Pilot you can check out. I have also attached a helpful article about trailer wiring you may want to take a look at.
