When you’re hauling rides for the whole family, space matters. The Curt rack handles up to 5 bikes with a total capacity of 225 lbs, giving every rider a secure spot. Each bike can weigh up to 45 lbs, so even heavier models are covered. It’s a simple way to load up everything from adult frames to kids’ bikes without juggling multiple carriers.
The dual arms taper from 16" near the mast to 10" at the ends, making it easy to mix large and small frames. Adult bikes fit snugly at the wider end while kids’ rides settle naturally into the narrow spacing. Anti-sway cradles stabilize each bike at three points—two straps on the top tube and one on the seat post—to cut down motion and keep paint safe from scuffs.
Need to grab a cooler or duffel after loading up? The rack tilts down (with bikes removed) so you can open the rear without unloading everything. A tethered pull pin and spring-loaded T-handle make it quick—drop the mast, grab what you need, and lock it back in place when you’re ready to roll.
Long trips and bumpy roads can shake a rack loose, but the included threaded hitch pin keeps the connection tight. Just snug it up with a 3/4" wrench for a solid, rattle-free hold. The result is a quieter ride and fewer vibrations where the rack meets the hitch.
A welded rung on the back of the mast gives you a solid anchor point for a cable lock (sold separately), adding theft deterrence when you’re parked. The black powder-coated steel construction resists rust and stands up to years of use. At 43 lbs, the rack feels sturdy without being a burden to handle.

Still love it! I got an adapter bar for the wife bike and that makes it much easier to load them all. Worth the investment, which is more affordable than most fancy brands.

After a year, its been working out great as our first bike rack for our 3 boys mountain bikes. Its designed for 5 bikes, but honestly, I dont think 2 more adult bikes would fit on it. Maybe after some reconfiguration. The rack still wobbles at the hitch even when bikes are added. If youre concerned about security, this may not be the rack for you because it doesnt have any built-in locking mechanism. Youll need to use a separate cable lock. All in all, its been a good rack for us.

This bike rack is made for standard bikes. You can stagger the bikes to allow for 5 to fit. The use of bike adapter bars will also help.

It sounds like you would benefit from a bike adapter bar like part # MPG2165. This holds your alternative frame bike at the handlebars and seat to create a bar for the bike rack to be able to hold the bike easily.
