Use this corrosion-resistant actuator to synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow-vehicle brakes. Drop-N-Go auto-latch coupler automatically locks your coupler in place on 2" hitch balls. Designed for hydraulic drum brake applications.
Features:
Specs:
When you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs and momentum pushes your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. With surge brake systems, the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward while the tow vehicle slows. The actuator telescopes, applying force to its master cylinder, which in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage the trailer's brakes.
Because this model does not include a reverse lockout, it is recommended that you equip your trailer with free-backing brakes so that you can drive in reverse without triggering your trailer's brakes.

Use this corrosion-resistant actuator to synchronize your trailer brakes with your tow-vehicle brakes. Drop-N-Go auto-latch coupler automatically locks your coupler in place on 2" hitch balls. Designed for hydraulic drum brake applications. This is a nice easy to use hitch. This is the 3rd one purchased for boat trailer hitch replacement. Really like the drop and go feature.
I put this on an easy loader trailer that had an Atwood master cylinder which is now obsolete. Cutting the old actuator off was a real bitch. Installing the new Dexter actuator was very easy. I could bend the existing brake line 180 and hook it directly up without having to change the end. The bolts were easily available at the hardware store, I wish they would have came with it. The quality of the drop and go hitch is unbelievably easy to use.
Had to move holes for safety chains other than that fit perfect
Every time I use the brakes, the actuator slams loudly or "machine guns." I will not purchase a Dexter actuator again.

Honestly any drum brake actuator is not going to give a smooth braking experience. For smoother braking, changing over to a electric over hydraulic actuator and disc brakes would be the best option. It is going to be a more expensive option.
Works great!
It fit perfectly and was easy to install. Customer service was excellent.
Good replacement for Atwood. Haven't used it yet but I can say I have gone through 3 Atwood's. I can see why they went out of business
The Drop and Go Brake Actuator was easy to install on my boat trailer and works great. Easy to follow instructions regarding the bleeding of the brakes. Noticeable difference over the old actuator which was on its last legs. After a year of use I am totally satisfied with its operation.
It's well made
Very nice hitch. Really like the drop and go part and works smoothly. Also like the large cap for checking brake fluid level and looks like it will last a long time (with proper use). Not like other hitch types that the cap and threads strip out due to corrosion.
Great product. Kicking my butt for being cheap and not doing the disk conversion though. Works good. No issues after a year
The actuator was just what I needed. Now just have to bleed the brakes. The lock will prevent anyone from driving off with my boat or trailer.
Fit perfect! Great replace the for Atwood discontinued surge brake drum coupler
Easy installation.
Proper braking.
Quality product

The trailer is rarely used. but after a year, on braking, there was a banging noise from the hitch. It turns out this was from excessive travel on the brake shoes, because of improper adjustment after break-in. After proper brakeshoe adjustment the noise went away. All is working fine.
