Expert Answers about Rockymounts

  • How to Change the Lock Core on a RockyMounts Bike Rack
  • Like you said, there isn't a master key for the RockyMounts lock cores. In order to change out a lock core you will need access to the back of the lock. Then with a small flat blade screwdriver or a knife you can press down on the pin that holds the lock in the housing and then push it out of the front. In the video I made, it is a Rhino-Rack part but the process is the same.

  • Rockymounts Split Rail 4 or Kuat Base 2.0 with 2 Bike Add On Comparison
  • I really like the RockyMounts Split Rail # RKY1140-4 because it allows you to go from a 2 bike to either a 3 bike or 4 bike rack depending on the need. The Kuat NV 2.0 # BA22B-BA02B is regarded by many as the nicest bike around but it's either 2 or 4. Split rail comes with a wall rack which is super convenient too. The Split Rail has a reputation for being very easy to operate, including the raise/lower lever, and has a fantastic anti-rattle device. If I were in your situation that's...

It includes two wheel strap extensions to fit fat tire bikes up to 5 inches wide. • Is RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Bike Rack Compatible With Rockwood Premier Pop-Up Trailer?
  • The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Roof Mounted Bike Rack # RKY1201 may fit the roof rack on your Rockwood Premier Hard Side A213HW, though you will need to measure the distance between the crossbars. If they are between 24" and 43" then the RockyMounts rack will work great for you. I highly recommend using the Lock Cores for RockyMounts Bike Carriers # RKY0332 to secure the investments you made in your rack and bike. I've added links to video reviews of these products for you to take a look...

  • Will RockyMounts Split Rail Bike Rack Fit 2008 Honda Odyssey and Fold Up
  • When we installed the Draw Tite hitch part # 75270 on a 2008 Honda Odyssey we found that from the center of the hitch pin hole to the furthest point out on the rear bumper it measured 5-1/4 inches. The RockyMounts Split Rail part # RKY1140-4 will clear that folded up as it has a distance of 6-1/2 inches from the pin hole to the nearest part of the rack when folded.

  • 15 mm Thru Axle Adapter Recommendation that Can Lock to Roof Bike Rack
  • This is a great question. Sounds like you are trying to determine which of the 15 mm adapters will allow you to actually lock the bike to the roof rack. Of the three you mentioned the only one that actually locks the bike to the adapter and then the adapter to the roof bike rack is the RockyMounts part # RKY1081. The rest are only adapters that allow the bike to fit the rack, but when our demo guy says the word lock he means it is clamped to the rack. Not locked like "theft-deterrent"....

  • Recommended Bike Rack to Make Loading and Unloading Bikes and Rack Easier on a 2017 Subaru Forester
  • The RockyMounts BackState # RKY10002 is a great rack that sounds like it would well for you. Except that it is a pretty heavy rack at around 70 pounds. Unfortunately, swinging racks are generally heavier, as our platform racks. When you combine it into a swinging platform rack it's likely going to be pretty heavy. Taking the weight of the bike carrier into consideration I have a few other options you may like. The Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 is also a swinging rack however it's a...

  • RockyMounts' SplitRail 3 Bike Platform Rack # RKY1140-3, when not loaded and with its ratcheting arms folded down, will extend up 9-1/2-inches above the top of the shank. So if you measure from the top of your receiver opening up 9-1/2-inches you can check to see if the tailgate will open without contact.

  • Carrying Fat Bike with Thule # TH594XT Sidearm Roof Mounted Bike Rack
  • Your best bet would be to go with a rack that is compatible with the fat bike adapter. The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles roof mounted bike rack # RKY1203 is compatible with fat bikes when equipped with the # RKY1240 adapter kit. I spoke with my Thule representative, and was told that Thule doesn't offer a fat bike adapter for their # TH594XT Sidearm Roof Bike Rack. Because RockyMounts is a completely different manufacturer, Thule couldn't say if the RockyMounts Adapter Kit would be compatible...

  • Are All 4 Locks in the RockyMounts Lock Core Set # RKY0334 Operated by Both Included Keys
  • Yes, you are correct that both keys included in the RockyMounts Lock Core Set # RKY0334 are identical and each will operate all four of the included lock cores. These are compatible with the RockyMounts rooftop and truck-bed bike-rack models with locking quick-release skewers. Their zinc plating helps prevent corrosion. This lock kit is covered by RockyMounts' limited lifetime warranty and it is illustrated in the linked review video.

  • I spoke with my contact at RockyMounts and he confirmed that the Yakima lock cores will not fit RockyMounts products, like the Flagstaff Towers # RKY3002 that you referenced. • The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Roof Bike Rack for Fat Bikes # RKY1201-FB referenced in your question does include an adapter that will allow you to also mount standard road or mountain bikes. You will be able to transport a bike with standard tire sizes or a fat bike with tire widths of up to 5 inches on this carrier. The ratcheting, padded hook and metal wheel brace will secure your bike by the front wheel, preventing any damage or scratching to the frame. The rack has a weight capacity...

  • Best Trailer Hitch Receiver Bike Rack for a RadRover E-Bike on a 2015 Honda Odyssey
  • Between the RockyMounts Monorail, part # RKY10004 and the Malone Pilot, part # MPG2112, I would say that going with the Malone Pilot is the better choice. The Pilot is a very solid rack and I really like its bent rail styling, making loading a heavier bike just a little easier. Additionally, your bike having fenders means that most wheel mounts won't work for the bike, and out of the box the Malone Pilot is able to fit to either a frame or wheel mount, giving you flexibility with the...

  • Roof Rack Channel Mount Bike Carrier That Installs into T-Slots
  • The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles # RKY1201 will not mount using T-slots on crossbars. However, the RockyMounts JetLine Bike Rack # RKY1321 can. The Jetline will only work with bikes that have a quick-release front wheel. It does feature a locking option by adding two lock cores # RKY0332. For another channel mount bike carrier that uses T-slots the Thule ProRide # TH598003 is a frame mount that doesn't require the front wheel to be removed. It uses a padded clamp that holds your bike...

  • Truck Bed Bike Rack Recommendation for 2017 Toyota Tacoma with Cargo Rails
  • If you have bikes that are too long to face sideways in the bed of your truck and only have rails that are on either side of the bed there really isn't a way to utilize the rail and orientate your bike the way it needs to be to fit your truck bed. Normally I'd recommend a LoBall part # RKY1097 as it is locking and fits the channel of your 2017 Toyota Tacoma but your bike won't fit sideways. Realistically you would have to go with something like the Swagman Pick Truck Bed Rack part...

  • Adapter Needed to Fit 1-1/4" RockyMounts SplitRail # RKY1130 to a 2" Trailer Hitch Receiver
  • The adapter sleeve that I recommend using is the Brophy Hitch Reducer # HT02. This will reduce your 2" hitch receiver to a 1-1/4" receiver that your RockyMounts SplitRail # RKY1130 can mount into. The adapter comes with a hitch pin and clip but I recommend also getting an anti-rattle locking hitch pin like part # 63232 to help reduce the play of your bike rack. I have attached some review videos for you to check out as well.

  • Is it Possible to get RockyMounts Clutch SD Truck Bed Rail Bike Carriers Keyed Alike
  • Most likely if you purchased 3 RockyMounts LoBall Bike Racks # RKY1097 you would get three different lock cylinders that would require different keys. What you could do is get RockyMounts Replacement Lock set # RKY0334. This is a replacement key set that comes with four matching lock cylinders that you could replace with the ones in the # RKY011 that you plan on purchasing and you would be good to go.

  • Thule AeroBlade Roof Rack to Carry a Tandem Bike on a 2007 Subaru Outback Wagon
  • The slots on the Thule AeroBlade bars, # THARB47, extend all the way to the end caps so you technically could place an item there. However if you where to place a bike in that location it may stick out too far on the outside of the vehicle making clearance an issue so you have to be aware of that when loaded. You could probably put another 2 bikes on the roof for a total of 3 but having 4 bikes could potentially be too many because of the width restrictions and weight limits of the...

  • Swing Away Bike Rack Recommendation for Mercedes Sprinter 3500
  • My favorite bike rack to recommend is the Thule Vertex Swing part # TH9031XT because it can carry up to 4 bikes and can swing out and away from the rear of the vehicle to give you complete access to the rear cargo area with bikes loaded. The arms of the rack can also fold down when not in use so that the bike rack doesn't take up much space as well. Check out the review video I attached for more info on this rack as well. The square brackets in the mounting hardware of the bike carrier will slide into the channel of the factory deck rail system. • Opening the Rear Doors on a Ram ProMaster With a RockyMounts BackStage Hitch Bike Rack Installed
  • The RockyMounts BackStage, part # RKY10002 swings open to be 49 inches from the shank to the closest part of the rack. This should allow the doors of your ProMaster Van to open, but not to the full distance they normally do. 2017 Ram ProMaster doors swing open to 260-degrees, and you won't be able to get to that full distance with the RockyMounts swung out. You'll probably get closer to 90 to 120-degrees open, which is still plenty to load and unload cargo.

This system is limited to certain bike rack models, but the vast majority are not compatible with the t-slots.
