Expert Answers about Rockymounts

  • How to Change the Lock Core on a RockyMounts Bike Rack
  • Like you said, there isn't a master key for the RockyMounts lock cores. In order to change out a lock core you will need access to the back of the lock. Then with a small flat blade screwdriver or a knife you can press down on the pin that holds the lock in the housing and then push it out of the front. In the video I made, it is a Rhino-Rack part but the process is the same.

  • Roof Rack Channel Mount Bike Carrier That Installs into T-Slots
  • The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles # RKY1201 will not mount using T-slots on crossbars. However, the RockyMounts JetLine Bike Rack # RKY1321 can. The Jetline will only work with bikes that have a quick-release front wheel. It does feature a locking option by adding two lock cores # RKY0332. For another channel mount bike carrier that uses T-slots the Thule ProRide # TH598003 is a frame mount that doesn't require the front wheel to be removed. It uses a padded clamp that holds your bike...

  • 15 mm Thru Axle Adapter Recommendation that Can Lock to Roof Bike Rack
  • This is a great question. Sounds like you are trying to determine which of the 15 mm adapters will allow you to actually lock the bike to the roof rack. Of the three you mentioned the only one that actually locks the bike to the adapter and then the adapter to the roof bike rack is the RockyMounts part # RKY1081. The rest are only adapters that allow the bike to fit the rack, but when our demo guy says the word lock he means it is clamped to the rack. Not locked like "theft-deterrent"....

  • Bike Rack Recommendation for a 2013 Toyota Tacoma with the Bed Rail System
  • The RockyMounts DriveShaft Track, # RKY1086, that you referenced will fit and works with standard fork mount bikes as well as 15-mm and 20-mm thru axle bikes. As well as Boost 110 axles. It is confirmed to work well with the bed rail system on your 2013 Toyota Tacoma.

  • Recommended Bike Rack to Make Loading and Unloading Bikes and Rack Easier on a 2017 Subaru Forester
  • The RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002 is a great rack that sounds like it would well for you. Except that it is a pretty heavy rack at around 70 pounds. Unfortunately, swinging racks are generally heavier, as our platform racks. When you combine it into a swinging platform rack it's likely going to be pretty heavy. Taking the weight of the bike carrier into consideration I have a few other options you may like. The Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 is also a swinging rack however it's a...

  • Best Bike Rack for a 2018 Radcity Step-Thru Electric Commuter Bike
  • For your 2018 Radcity Step-Thru Electric Commuter Bike, the best option we have for you is the Rola Convoy 1 Bike Platform Rack part # 59308 with the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar part # 64005. The Convoy has an 80 lb weight capacity, tilting feature to allow for rear hatch access, and comes with a hitch lock. The best feature of this bike rack however is that you can carry more bikes by using up to three of the Bike Add-On for Rola Convoy Platform Rack part # 59310. I do not...

  • Rockymounts Split Rail 4 or Kuat Base 2.0 with 2 Bike Add On Comparison
  • I really like the RockyMounts Split Rail # RKY1140-4 because it allows you to go from a 2 bike to either a 3 bike or 4 bike rack depending on the need. The Kuat NV 2.0 # BA22B-BA02B is regarded by many as the nicest bike around but it's either 2 or 4. Split rail comes with a wall rack which is super convenient too. The Split Rail has a reputation for being very easy to operate, including the raise/lower lever, and has a fantastic anti-rattle device. If I were in your situation that's...

  • Lock Recommendation for 9 mm Dummy Axle for RockyMounts DriveShaft Bike Rack
  • For the RockyMounts DriveShaft Track Truck Bed Bike Rack # RKY1086 that you referenced the Dummy Axle part # RKY1082 does allow you to transport a 9 mm skewer like you mentioned. This does bypass the lock of the rack so a locking skewer like part # RRRBCA022 would be what you need for this as well.

  • Is RockyMounts DriveShaft Available
  • Yes, the RockyMounts DriveShaft Track Truck Bed Bike Rack # RKY1086 is available. This truck bed bike rack works with factory track systems and is a 1-bike carrier that will allow you to carry bikes with with 12-mm, 15-mm (including Boost 110), or 20-mm thru axles. You can carry a bike with a 9-mm, quick-release skewer as well by adding the 9-mm Dummy Axle with Quick Release Handle # RKY1082

  • Will Yakima Lock Cores Work With RockyMounts Products
  • I spoke with my contact at RockyMounts and he confirmed that the Yakima lock cores will not fit RockyMounts products, like the Flagstaff Towers # RKY3002 that you referenced. To lock the RockyMounts Flagstaff Towers # RKY3002 you will want to use the Lock Cores # RKY0332. Lock cores look similar, but typically each is specific the to manufacturer.

  • Opening the Rear Doors on a Ram ProMaster With a RockyMounts BackStage Hitch Bike Rack Installed
  • The RockyMounts BackStage, part # RKY10002 swings open to be 49 inches from the shank to the closest part of the rack. This should allow the doors of your ProMaster Van to open, but not to the full distance they normally do. 2017 Ram ProMaster doors swing open to 260-degrees, and you won't be able to get to that full distance with the RockyMounts swung out. You'll probably get closer to 90 to 120-degrees open, which is still plenty to load and unload cargo.

  • Swing Away Bike Rack Recommendation for Mercedes Sprinter 3500
  • My favorite bike rack to recommend is the Thule Vertex Swing part # TH9031XT because it can carry up to 4 bikes and can swing out and away from the rear of the vehicle to give you complete access to the rear cargo area with bikes loaded. The arms of the rack can also fold down when not in use so that the bike rack doesn't take up much space as well. Check out the review video I attached for more info on this rack as well. If you plan on carrying any womens or alternative framed bikes...

  • Are Skewer Nuts for Fork Mount Bike Racks Universal
  • The Replacement Long End Nut for RockyMounts 9mm Quick Release part # RKY099 is not universal. It is designed to work exclusively with RockyMounts Tandem Mount R4, 9mm Lariat, 9mm Noose and 9mm Clutch racks with gold shaft. If you have a Yakima Boa or CopperHead roof-mounted bike carrier then you can use the Replacement Nut for Universal Locking Skewer part # Y8820114. Please let me know what bike rack you have and I would be glad to see if we have the correct skewer nut for you.

  • Changing the Lock Core on RockyMounts Bike Racks and Ordering New Locks with Specific Numbers
  • The RockyMounts lock cores can be changed out on their bike carriers. If you want to have your RockyMounts products keyed the same then what you will do is either order a separate lock and key that has the same number as a lock and key that you already have. Or you can order a pack of cores such as # RKY0332 and change the locks on both products. To order a lock and key that matches what you already have you will look at the number on the key/lock that you have. For example if that number...

  • RockyMounts SplitRail vs. Kuat Transfer vs. Saris Freedom Bike Rack Comparison
  • Both the RockyMounts Split Rail part # RKY1140 and the Kuat Transfer part # TS02G are great bike racks. The Kuat weighs a bit less at 37 lbs vs. the RM which weighs 44 lbs but you give up a bit of adjustability with the Kuat. The RM allows the rear rail to slide to adjust to bike lengths better. It's also very easy to fold up and down when needed. Platform bike racks require quite a bit of material to make due to the nature of the rack so they weigh more than hanging racks, but they...

  • Can RockyMounts Bed Rail Bike Carrier # RKY1097 Stay Mounted With Installation of Tonneau Cover
  • The RockyMounts Truck Bed Rail Bike Carrier, part # RKY1097, you have referenced, is designed to be installed on the factory-installed deck rail system rails of your 2012 Toyota Tacoma. The square brackets in the mounting hardware of the bike carrier will slide into the channel of the factory deck rail system. Then, the two bolts are inserted through the bracket and tightened down to hold the bracket in place. If your tonneau cover is installed in the channels of your factory rails,...

  • Is RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Bike Rack Compatible With Rockwood Premier Pop-Up Trailer?
  • The RockyMounts BrassKnuckles Roof Mounted Bike Rack # RKY1201 may fit the roof rack on your Rockwood Premier Hard Side A213HW, though you will need to measure the distance between the crossbars. If they are between 24" and 43" then the RockyMounts rack will work great for you. I highly recommend using the Lock Cores for RockyMounts Bike Carriers # RKY0332 to secure the investments you made in your rack and bike. • Which is a Better Bike Rack Between the RockyMounts MonoRail and the Hollywood Racks TRS
  • Hollywood Racks makes a good bike rack. But with that said I am not impressed with the TRS # HR3000 or # HR3500. I find that the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10003 is the superior bike rack between the 2. I will say this about the TRS though; the hook design is compatible with bikes that wider forks compared to the MonoRail. The MonoRail is compatible with Class I hitches whereas the TRS is compatible with Class II only on the 1-1/4 inch side. Both are compatible with 2 inch hitches. All...

  • Swing-Away Style Bike Rack Options for a 2011 Toyota FJ Cruiser
  • The RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10002 fits the exact description of what you are looking for in a bike rack to carry 2 bikes on your 2001 Toyota FJ Cruiser. It has the ability to tilt, swing-away, can fold up, and comes with hitch and bike locks to deter theft of your equipment. Since trailer hitch receiver locations and spare tire width can vary you will want to measure from the center of your hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of your spare tire. If that measurement...

  • Most likely if you purchased 3 RockyMounts LoBall Bike Racks # RKY1097 you would get three different lock cylinders that would require different keys. What you could do is get RockyMounts Replacement Lock set # RKY0334. This is a replacement key set that comes with four matching lock cylinders that you could replace with the ones in the # RKY011 that you plan on purchasing and you would be good to go.

  • Best Trailer Hitch Receiver Bike Rack for a RadRover E-Bike on a 2015 Honda Odyssey
  • Between the RockyMounts Monorail, part # RKY10004 and the Malone Pilot, part # MPG2112, I would say that going with the Malone Pilot is the better choice. The Pilot is a very solid rack and I really like its bent rail styling, making loading a heavier bike just a little easier. Additionally, your bike having fenders means that most wheel mounts won't work for the bike, and out of the box the Malone Pilot is able to fit to either a frame or wheel mount, giving you flexibility with the...

They do not recommend using any other roof mounted accessories like a bike rack on your vehicle. this means that you will need to select some other means for carrying bikes with your Pacifica.
