Expert Answers about Timbren

  • Best Way to Prevent Sagging Suspension When Towing a Trailer
  • For sag from towing a trailer the best recommendation I can make is actually a weight distribution system. Suspension enhancement will help level your truck while towing. But the advantage to a weight distribution system is that it levels the vehicle by distributing the tongue weight of the trailer up to the front axle of the vehicle as well. This will help greatly with handling and braking, especially in an emergency situation. The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is...

  • Replacement Axle Recommendation For Small Popup Camper
  • The axles we offer are available in 3 lengths. They are 60 inch, 72 inch, and 89 inches hub-face to hub-face, but I may have a solution for you. We do offer axle-less systems that are either bolted or welded to the trailer frame. This would replace the axle and suspension system you currently have on your camper. If you are looking for a system that has a 3,500 lb weight capacity, I recommend part # A35RS545. This is a straight spindle and has a 5 on 4-1/2 bolt pattern. For a system...

  • Recommended Trailer Axle Kit for Fabricating Off-Road Utility Trailer
  • If you are building your own firewood hauling trailer you might want to consider one of our Timbren axle-less suspension kits. These are available with idler hubs and some also have lifted spindles that can give you better ground clearance (for use in the woods when gathering your firewood). We do have standard beam axle kits too but the Timbrens can be the ideal way to go for fabricators that want an effective but simple installation of their trailer suspension. The linked page will...

  • What would I Need to Upgrade from 3,500 lbs Tandem Axles to 5,000 lbs Tandem Axles
  • We carry the Timbren Axle-Less System rated at 5,200 lbs part # ASR5200S01. The axle-less system mounts to your trailer frame and takes the place of your old axle and springs.# ASR5200S01 is a straight spindle design. Timbren also offers these axles with a 4 inch drop spindle part # ASR5200S04. The Timbren Axle-Less can be mount tandem to repalce your tandem axles. There is no need to install leaf springs, because the Timbren axles have built-in spring system on each axle. However,...

  • What Type of Frame Clearance will Timbren Silent Ride TSR7000T05 Have
  • On the inboard side of the Timbren Silent Ride Suspension # TSR7000T05 there are two flanges that have two slotted bolt holes on them. That is where the crossmember attaches. Each axle would be rated for 7k so with this you would have 14k of axle capacity. The frame to axle distance will be right at 6-3/8 inches. I think this would be an ideal setup for you that would work well and give you plenty of clearance.

  • Availability of Independent Suspension Trailer Axle Kit for Off-Road Trailer with 6 Lug Hub
  • Sounds like you may be looking for an axle kit like the Timbren Axle-Less part # ASR35HDS02. This is a 3,500 lb axle setup that has a 4 inch lift built into it and is spaced out for off-road tires. For an idler hub that fits it with a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern we have the part # 42655UC1-EZ.

  • How to Decrease Sag on 2016 Ram 1500 When Towing
  • A Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System is a great way to reduce sag on your 2016 Ram 1500. They're easy to install without any drilling by replacing the factory bump stop. If your Ram is a Regular Cab, you will need # TDR1500DS. If you have the Crew or Quad cab, then you'll need # TDR1500DQ. I've included an installation video on a 2014 Ram which is a very similar process to yours. The best way to reduce sag is with a weight distribution system. A weight distribution system...

  • Timbren Axle-Less Suspension for a Home Made Tear Drop Trailer Build
  • The Timbren Axle-less suspension system that is going to work best for you depends on the capacity you need. But it sounds like you are looking for a straight spindle and not a drop spindle so that narrows things down some. For a 3,500 pound capacity we have # A35RS545. Hubs are included. Also for 3,500 pounds we have # A35RS545E which includes hub and drum assemblies for electric brakes. For a 2,000 pound capacity we have # A20RS545. EZ lube hubs are included. All of the included...

  • Reducing Rear End Squat when Towing Trailer with 2014 Ram 1500 Crew Cab 2x4
  • Normally weight distribution is the best option when squat is caused by a coupled trailer. But since the manufacturer of the trailer specifically said not to use it the next best option would be suspension enhancement for your 2014 Ram 1500. I do recommend the Timbren springs # TDR1500DQ because they do work well. They may allow the suspension to travel some before they engage but the squat should be reduced if not eliminated. I have included a link to a video showing installation of...

  • Rear Suspension Enhancement Options for a 2004 Cadillac Escalade EXT
  • I may have a solution that will work for you, however, we do not offer replacement air shocks for your 2004 Cadillac Escalade EXT at this time. We do offer coil spring air bag inserts like the AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs, # AL60769. These air bags fit in the rear coil springs and can be manually inflated for additional support. Another option would be a bump stop replacement like the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System, # TGMRG25C, that you referenced. These are rubber springs...

  • Recommended Timbren Silent Ride Tandem Axle Trailer Suspension Setup
  • 7,000 lb axles are not typically 4 inches in diameter and we don't have a system compatible with that size. If you want to upgrade from your 3,500 lb axles to larger capacity axles, you can use the Timbren Silent Ride Suspension for Tandem Axle Trailers w/ 3" Round Axles - 14,000 lbs # TSR14KT01 but you will want to make sure your other trailer components can handle that additional capacity. You will be limited by the weakest component of your entire system. If you just want to keep...

  • 3,500 lb Timbren Setup Recommendation for Off-Road Wheels and Tires
  • For a wheel and tire that big your best option would be the Timbren kit part # ASR35HDS02 which is set up for wider tires and also has a 4 inch lift built into it. This is the same 3,500 lb capacity though. That being said we can only safely recommend using trailer rated wheels and tires wit this kit. For just a hub without a drum you would want the part # AKIHUB-655-6-K.

  • What is the Height of the Springs in Timbren Suspension Enhancement Kit # TGMRCK15S
  • I went out to the warehouse and pulled Timbren kit # TGMRCK15S to take some measurements for you. The overall height of the spring is 5-1/8 inches and the overall width is 4 inches (diameter). Timbren does make some 1 inch spacers, # A25723-90AH00, that you could use if more height is needed. This may result in the need for longer bolts that you would need to obtain locally. Use grad 5 or better bolts.

  • What Stops Porpoising on Tow Vehicle that is Using Weight Distribution with Trailer
  • Most of the time when a tow setup is porpoising with a weight distribution system all you have to do is add a bit more spring bar tension to minimize the porpoising. With an Equalizer system you would need to angle the spring bars down further to add the additional tension. Suspension enhancement like the Timbren part # TGMRCK15S would help but you should be able to solve the problem with the WD system.

  • The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TDR2500D has a height of 6-3/4" if you use the provided spacer and 5-3/4" without it. This system is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Ram 2500, will not require any drilling and can be used whether or not you have factory top overload springs on your truck. I've added a link to a video review of these springs for you to take a look at as well.

  • The Timbren Heavy-Duty Axle-Less Trailer Suspension - 4" Lift Spindle - Wide Tires - 2,000 lbs # ASR2KHDS03 is a great choice and the idler hubs you would want to fit are the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 5 on 4-1/2 # 84545UC1-EZ. These will be compatible with 16 inch wheels. Most Jeeps have 5 on 5 inch bolt pattern, so you may want the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly # 84550UC1-EZ. • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for a 2011 Dodge Ram 1500 Towing a Gooseneck Trailer
  • For occasional towing with your 2011 Dodge Ram 1500, I would go with the Timbren suspension enhancement system. If you do not have a Quad Cab, use # TDR1500DS. If you do have a Quad Cab, use # TDR1500DQ (instructions linked for reference). The Firestone systems are good when you carrying varying sized loads and have to adjust the ride accordingly. But for occasional towing of the same trailer, the Timbren system would be the way to go.

  • Methods of Improving Sway Control on 31 Foot Rockwood Camper towed Behind Ford F-150
  • The Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System you mentioned, # TFR1502D is primarily designed to suspend the load of cargo stored in the bed of your truck, and will not have much if any effect on trailer sway. First and foremost, if the trailer has insufficient tongue weight, it will be more susceptible to sway. The tongue weight of the trailer should be at least 10 percent of the weight of the trailer. If it is less, try moving some of the gear stowed in the trailer forward of the...

  • What Is The Tow Capacity Of A 2001 Chevrolet Suburban
  • The 2001 Chevrolet Suburban has a towing capacity ranging from 5,900 to 8,800 lbs depending on equipped features. You should consult your owner's manual for the exact specification. As long as the mobile home trailer does not exceed your max tow rating, yes you can safely tow the 32' trailer. Depending on how frequently you will be towing the mobile home, I recommend the use of either suspension enhancements or a weight distribution system. If you will be frequently towing this trailer,...

  • 2015 Ford F-150 Sags at the Back When Coupled to Trailer with 550 Pounds Tongue Weight
  • Sag at the rear of a vehicle such as your 2015 Ford F-150 can happen from 1 of 2 ways. First, weight in the actual truck bed can cause sag. Second, the tongue weight from a coupled trailer can cause sag. The ways to deal with the sag are different. When sag is caused by a trailer the recommended solution is weight distribution, not helper springs. Weight distribution will more evenly distribution the force of the tongue weight to all of the axles on the tow vehicle and trailer so it...

They both use the same brake mounting flanges but the bearings are different. The straight spindles use a 25580 inner/LM67048 outer bearing and the lift spindles use a 25580 inner/15123 outer bearing. • You can change out the 3500-lb axles on your enclosed trailer with higher-capacity 5200-lb axles but this will not necessarily increase the weight capacity of the trailer. The trailer manufacturer should be consulted (giving them your trailer's VIN) to allow them to determine if the other components in it, such as its frame, have the capacity to allow you to benefit from increasing the axle rating. Also, it will likely be necessary to change your hubs to ones that are higher rated to...
