Which Hitch Is Best for Carrying E-Bikes and Light Towing with a 2021 Jeep Cherokee?

HI I have a 2021 Jeep Cherokee and Im looking to get a hitch for it. Im looking for one that will be good for a bike rack for two E bikes mostly. But possibly a small boat trailer, or small camper RV. Can you please suggest a couple good options for me please and their differences. Thank you Sadie

Thanks for writing in.
For your 2021 Jeep Cherokee, I'd recommend going with a Class III hitch with a 2" receiver since you're planning to carry two e-bikes and may eventually tow a small boat trailer or lightweight camper.
My top recommendation would be the etrailer hitch # e73ZR. Another great option is the Curt hitch # C13395. The two hitches are very similar in capacity and fit, and both will work great for carrying e-bikes or handling light towing duties. The main difference is the finish. The etrailer hitch has a matte black powder coat, while the Curt has a glossy black finish. Personally, I prefer the matte black finish on the etrailer hitch because it has a cleaner, more OEM-style appearance and tends to hide scratches and road grime a little better over time. I attached an image of the etrailer hitch installed so you can see exactly where it will sit.
If you'll be carrying two e-bikes, I'd also take a look at the Kuat Piston ION # KU89SR. It's designed specifically for heavier e-bikes, includes a loading ramp, and secures the bikes by the tires instead of the frame. Kuat also has an excellent reputation for standing behind their products and taking care of their customers long after the sale.
If you decide to tow a trailer, you'll also need wiring. The Curt T-Connector # C56406 is a plug-and-play installation that connects to the factory wiring behind the rear trim panels, so no wire splicing is required. For a ball mount, I recommend # C45042. If your trailer coupler is the standard 16" height from the ground, you'll want to flip the ball mount into the rise position to get a 4" rise and help keep the trailer level while towing.

I installed the receiver on my 2021 Cherokee. Time was undef an hour. The instructions were clear and spot on. Highly recommend this set up.

Hi Sadie, I had the exact same requirement. I go the class III trailer hitch and the wiring harness, spec'd straight from this site. Site was very handy, especially the videos help a lot to clarify any uncertainties. I did the installation myself. Customer service was great. Highly recommend etrailer and their products.
