Good morning, Diane. That is a good question since the RockyMounts HighNoon # RKY87RR and the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10007 are quite similar. The HighNoon is essentially the newer version of the same RockyMounts bike rack. We started selling the HighNoon just last year, whereas the MonoRail has been around much longer. Both are great racks.

The HighNoon has a few design differences that allow it to be more versatile. The shank has been reinforced which allows the rack to sit farther away from the car while retaining the same 60 lb weight capacity. This allows it to fit a lot of different vehicles. The wheel tray has been extended from 48" to 52" to accommodate larger bikes. The HighNoon weighs 29 lbs, so about 4 lbs more than the MonoRail.

How much further away would it sit? I have a small size step-through electric bike. It seems like to older model might fit it fine. Is that right? Both are just as sturdy?

@DianeB This distance is measured from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack. On the HighNoon this distance is 16-3/4". For The MonoRail it is 12". They are both equally as sturdy, yes.
