RV Steps with fold-down, 5-step reach
Tight parking or storage isn't a barrier with fold-down step designs—you only need room to open the door. Choose 5 steps to tame taller entry heights and keep the rise manageable, and use the adjustable legs to level up on uneven ground. Installation is straightforward; just know these can take more effort to deploy than lift-assisted styles and may feel a bit less solid at full extension.
Measure from the top of the door sill plate to the ground to confirm you need 5 steps. Measure between the door frame flanges to match step width. Check door sill plate thickness (5/8" to 3/4") and a minimum 3/8" sill plate clearance if your step specifies it. Some designs require at least a 28" wide doorway—verify your doorway width before ordering.
Installation is generally straightforward. You may need to slightly adjust the door bracket for a proper fit and verify hardware threads match before tightening. These can be heavier and take more effort to deploy than lift-assisted styles. If the bottom step latch sticks or the push pins are stiff, work them free before lifting the steps to make adjustment easier.
