RV Steps with 23-1/2 Inch Wide Step
Dial in a solid fit for narrower entryways with a 23-1/2 inch wide step. Measure your doorway and make sure the step can catch the door frame lip for proper support. Install can be straightforward, though some setups may need small door or screen tweaks for smooth closing. Once in, the sturdy feel makes getting in and out easier and helps keep the trailer steadier underfoot.
Lift assist is available on some versions and kits fit only certain 3-step setups. Confirm your exact step model before choosing a strut kit. Note the strut installs on the right side; relocating it to the left isn't supported without the needed bracket. If you need easy lifting, choose a version that includes the assist from the start.
Measure your doorway width from inside flange to inside flange and check the threshold height while the RV is level. Also check screen-door clearance and the bottom door lip; some installs needed trimming at the door bottom or jamb for the door to close and the step to fold down fully. If the step won't catch the door frame lip, the width is likely too small.
Match the step count to your entry height. If the entry is taller, a 4-step can make the climb easier; someone with a 3-step later wished for a 4-step. Measure threshold height and consider terrain—factory fold-outs sometimes didn't reach the ground on uneven sites, while upgraded steps improved contact and footing.
Installation is generally straightforward, but plan checks for door and screen-door clearance. Some had to trim the bottom of the door or a section of the door jamb so the door closed smoothly and the step folded down all the way. Verify you have the correct instructions for your latch or hinge style, and count the hardware before starting to avoid a mid-install store run.
