RV Steps with Fold-Down Step for steady entry
Get a steadier climb with fold-down step RV steps. They feel solid underfoot and can cut down camper shake as you enter. For the right fit, measure your door opening so the step engages the door frame lip, match the rise between steps to your entry height, and plan for door and screen door clearance—some installs call for trimming a threshold lip or the bottom of the screen door.
Yes, but compatibility depends on your exact step. Lift-assist struts are available for certain 3-step versions sized for narrow or wide door frames. Replacement hardware and backer plates are sold separately for some manual fold-down steps. Confirm your step model and door frame width before ordering accessories.
The rise/drop is the distance between the steps. Pick the spacing that works with your entry height so stepping feels natural. Measure entry height from the top of the doorway threshold to the ground, then choose the step that lists that entry height and your door frame width in its specs.
Measure the inside width of your door opening and match it to the step's required door frame width. If the step is too narrow it may not catch the lip on the door frame even after adjustment. Check for a tight fit so the step can rest on the threshold as intended before drilling any holes.
Start by removing the decorative roll plate at the threshold or trimming its center section so the step bracket can sit lower. If needed, trim the small lip on the threshold. If the screen door still hits, mark the bottom width to cut and remove material about a half inch high between those marks. Make small cuts and test until the door closes smoothly.
