On the other end you're going to have the individual pigtail wires for wiring to your trailer. The wires are all color coded. The red, brown, green, and yellow wires are gauge 14. Blue wire is gauge 12, and then the black and white wires those are going to be gauge 10.

It's got a nice wire casing that goes over those wires. It's going to protect the wires and it's going to keep them all together. No problem works just as advertised. Bought this because mine had no middle contact to operate backup lite and backup alarm, this solved the problem 610334

It is a great relief to get what you order and as fast as it arrived, I could not have expected any better results. The items ordered were good, I would like to see more "MADE IN THE USA", but it is difficult to find. I do like to shop USA. products when practical.. Very good experience ordering from ETRAILER. 327058

- A10-7W6

Very good quality trailer wiring connector. Just be sure you don't simply connect color to color when you splice into trailer wiring. 'FUNCTION' positions may be standardized on the connectors, but color codes are definitely NOT. 343509

Received my order quickly. Smooth tran saction. 617782

- A10-7W6

Sturdy construction! Much better than using those plastic replacement ends. Only complaint is, the wire colors didn't match standard configurations, a few minutes with a test light and we were in business. 496950

Thanks for the follow up and reply Andy. We do have the color and functions listed in the specs portion of the product page. But you did exactly as we recommend which is to test for function vs. relying solely on color coding.

So, I have been wiring trailers for a while now. I have been known to wire thing backwards before. So when I got all finished wiring it up and my marker lights were flashing , I thought, I did it again. Re check all the wires. And I have brown for brown, green for green, and yellow for yellow. Well come to find out, nothing is color coded with this pigtail. Cut it all apart and rewire it all. They said they sent me a link for the wiring but I could not find anything about the colors not matching. 609710

There is more than one accepted color code for wiring a 7-way trailer connector. We explain the color code above in the product description.

Great! I was not satisfied with packaging in the past, but had a personal call from Rebecca who actually acted concerned about my order! She was great. Made recommendations and processed my order. I do like doing business with a business who cares about me. Thanks Rebecca. 322513

Awesome! Plan on ordering one for another trailer.

- A10-7W6

Cord is good quality but wire color code doesnt follow the normal trailer light standards. It makes more work for you have to I.D each wire back to trailer plug 479414

The trailer connector you purchased does indeed use a different color code, which is why we specifically mention this on the product page. The connector would wire up as follows- White wire is Ground, Red wire is Left TurnBrake lamp, Brown wire is Right TurnBrake lamp, Green is Taillights, Blue is Trailer Brakes, Black is 12-Volt power from battery and Yellow is an auxiliary circuit, frequently used for the reverse lamps.

Have had this for a year now. Use it once a week in summer. Connection is still 100%. Great product. 422869

Its been a year since I got this. The cord has stood the test of time. I dont store it outside so weather isnt the challenge. Its more like the long summer drives. Condition wise it is 98 good, just minor scraps and scratches. No connectivity issue or shorts. I would highly recommend this over others.

I replaced the hydraulic hitch system with this. We have to replace the hydraulic brake drums with self adjusting electric brake drums which we feel will be a better system based on our load. We are hauling a couple of RZR'S so the weight distribution was a concern. All the parts have been good to work with. The attachment nUt sav and lock washers were not with our package. A phone call later and etrailer had them on their way. The sad part is the Postal service has lost them at the delivery point. The videos have been helpful in getting us prepared for the upgrade of our trailer. 373713

I wanted a better wiring harness then what the usual discount national auto parts stores stock. So I went to the web and found this site. Ordered the six foot model (I had been having the existing harness disconnect from the four plug adapter too many times) to give me enough length. Seems very high quality, both the individual wires and the outer protective sheath. Wiring was pretty simple; slight difference in color coding. Just take your time. I used the 3M heat shrink crimp connections. Here's a wiring tip: If you cut the wires in a staggered sequence, instead of all the same length, then when wrapping, you don't end up with a huge bulge where all the crimped connectors are. 414277

- A10-7W6

Overall a good product, but it could be better. Two main improvements would help a lot. First, color coding the wires to match industry standard instead of the random coloring that is used. Second, the plug is twisted, see picture. 401199

This was never right from the start. The brake controller portion worked, but I ended up wiring in a four flat for my lights because we were leaving on a trip the next morning. I was busy and never got anything done about it, and eventually replaced the molded plug before I sold the trailer. Hopefully mine was just a fluke. 862701

- A10-7W6

Seems like a quality product just be careful not to use colors as a guide connecting. Brown in this harness is a blinker brake instead of taillights. I think green was taillights instead of turn signals. Otherwise seemed good we will see how it last 818470

  • How To Install Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector With Different Color Tail Light Wires
In regards to the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector part # A10-7W6, the most common mistake people make is that they try to match colors for installation which you just can't do. The trailer connector has seven wires, each of which with a certain function. Odds are, the tail lights you are trying to install have different color wires so you need to match function to function, not color to color. I have attached a list of each function for the above trailer connector below. Yellow:...

The standard 7-way trailer connector has not changed at all. The part # A10-7W6 that you referenced would work well with the 7-way you have on your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 though. It's possible your old connector or the truck's connector have corrosion or bent pins which would need to be cleaned/straightened.

  • Trailer Brakes are Locking Up When Using 2007 Nissan Frontier
From what I can gather it sounds like the trailer brakes are locking up with your 2007 Nissan Frontier. There are many reasons for this to potentially happen, starting with a short on the 12 volt accessory circuit is shorting to the brake wire circuit from your brake controller. You will want to check the wiring on the trailer to see if there is any damage, and after that you will want to check the connectors on your trailer and your Frontier for signs of damage or corrosion. • Why is 10 or 12 Gauge Wire Recommended for Electric Brake Assemblies
The reason that 10 Gauge # 10-1-1 or 12 Gauge # 12-1-1 wire is recommended for 10" brake assemblies, like part # AKEBRK-35-SA, is because they pull more power than the lights on your trailer. I believe the green wire you are referring to carries the right turn/stop lighting functions as you can see from the attached photo of a trailer side 4-Way. The 14 and 16 gauge wires are too small for the amount of power needing to get to the brake assemblies and they could potentially get too hot,...

Most of us aren't electricians, but that doesn't mean wiring a trailer is beyond us. It will take a little bit of time, but I wouldn't consider it a difficult DIY project by any means. So, to wire your 1977 Serro Scotty vintage camper, I recommend using the following parts: - Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector # A10-7W6 (6 ft long) - this is a high quality molded trailer connector with corrosion resistant terminals. - etrailer Trailer Wiring Junction Box - 7 Terminal # e99009 ...

  • Troubleshooting Gooseneck Trailer Wiring Connection with Tow Vehicle
It sounds like you have tested your truck with other trailers and your trailer with other trucks and have found the wiring circuits to connect and function correctly. This tends to suggest that there is just an issue between the two specific connectors. 7-way sockets and plugs like # PK11893 that you referenced and # A10-7W6 will vary slightly in their fit with one another so in some cases one or more circuits in the 7-way, such as the trailer brake circuit for example, may not make good...
