Great! I was not satisfied with packaging in the past, but had a personal call from Rebecca who actually acted concerned about my order! She was great. Made recommendations and processed my order. I do like doing business with a business who cares about me. Thanks Rebecca. 322513

Very good quality trailer wiring connector. Just be sure you don't simply connect color to color when you splice into trailer wiring. 'FUNCTION' positions may be standardized on the connectors, but color codes are definitely NOT. 343509

Sturdy construction! Much better than using those plastic replacement ends. Only complaint is, the wire colors didn't match standard configurations, a few minutes with a test light and we were in business. 496950

Thanks for the follow up and reply Andy. We do have the color and functions listed in the specs portion of the product page. But you did exactly as we recommend which is to test for function vs. relying solely on color coding.

It is a great relief to get what you order and as fast as it arrived, I could not have expected any better results. The items ordered were good, I would like to see more "MADE IN THE USA", but it is difficult to find. I do like to shop USA. products when practical.. Very good experience ordering from ETRAILER. 327058

Cord is good quality but wire color code doesnt follow the normal trailer light standards. It makes more work for you have to I.D each wire back to trailer plug 479414

Comments
The trailer connector you purchased does indeed use a different color code, which is why we specifically mention this on the product page. The connector would wire up as follows- White wire is Ground, Red wire is Left TurnBrake lamp, Brown wire is Right TurnBrake lamp, Green is Taillights, Blue is Trailer Brakes, Black is 12-Volt power from battery and Yellow is an auxiliary circuit, frequently used for the reverse lamps.

Have had this for a year now. Use it once a week in summer. Connection is still 100%. Great product. 422869

Comments
Its been a year since I got this. The cord has stood the test of time. I dont store it outside so weather isnt the challenge. Its more like the long summer drives. Condition wise it is 98 good, just minor scraps and scratches. No connectivity issue or shorts. I would highly recommend this over others.

I replaced the hydraulic hitch system with this. We have to replace the hydraulic brake drums with self adjusting electric brake drums which we feel will be a better system based on our load. We are hauling a couple of RZR'S so the weight distribution was a concern. All the parts have been good to work with. The attachment nUt sav and lock washers were not with our package. A phone call later and etrailer had them on their way. The sad part is the Postal service has lost them at the delivery point. The videos have been helpful in getting us prepared for the upgrade of our trailer. 373713

So, I have been wiring trailers for a while now. I have been known to wire thing backwards before. So when I got all finished wiring it up and my marker lights were flashing , I thought, I did it again. Re check all the wires. And I have brown for brown, green for green, and yellow for yellow. Well come to find out, nothing is color coded with this pigtail. Cut it all apart and rewire it all. They said they sent me a link for the wiring but I could not find anything about the colors not matching. 609710

Comments
There is more than one accepted color code for wiring a 7-way trailer connector. We explain the color code above in the product description.

Item arrived very quickly, and is an excellent cable for my cargo trailer rewire. My original trailer wiring was chewed up by the cows. The trailer wiring I purchased is better than the original because an adapter is not required to connect to the 7 wire plug on the truck. 590526

Overall a good product, but it could be better. Two main improvements would help a lot. First, color coding the wires to match industry standard instead of the random coloring that is used. Second, the plug is twisted, see picture. 401199

This is a great heavy duty harness that I am completely happy with. 478156

by:

I wanted a better wiring harness then what the usual discount national auto parts stores stock. So I went to the web and found this site. Ordered the six foot model (I had been having the existing harness disconnect from the four plug adapter too many times) to give me enough length. Seems very high quality, both the individual wires and the outer protective sheath. Wiring was pretty simple; slight difference in color coding. Just take your time. I used the 3M heat shrink crimp connections. Here's a wiring tip: If you cut the wires in a staggered sequence, instead of all the same length, then when wrapping, you don't end up with a huge bulge where all the crimped connectors are. 414277

Equipment supplied was very robust and of good manufacture,it did however take me a while to fit the new brakes without any written instructions that was very disappointing, Had the boat and trailer out today and everything seams to be running Hot have re greased the Bearings and will continue to monitor.Overall once you get you head around the fitting they go on easily 295233

Wire color code not correct 740086

Comments
This trailer connector is wired in an RV-Style layout. This means that the colors are wired for functions differently than a more traditional SAE standard connector. For this wiring connector, the color functions are as follows: Green: Tail/running lights Yellow: Reverse Lights Brown: Right turn/brake light White: Ground wire Blue: Brake controller output Black: Battery hot lead Red: Left turn/brake light. I pulled one of these from our warehouse and confirmed the colors and pin location match this. If the connector you received doesnt match this, let us know!

Ask the Experts about this Mighty Cord Wiring

  • Would Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector # A10-7W6 Fit 7-Way of 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500
The standard 7-way trailer connector has not changed at all. The part # A10-7W6 that you referenced would work well with the 7-way you have on your 2016 Chevy Silverado 3500 though. It's possible your old connector or the truck's connector have corrosion or bent pins which would need to be cleaned/straightened.

  • Does the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector Have a Rubber Cord?

  • Why is 10 or 12 Gauge Wire Recommended for Electric Brake Assemblies
The reason that 10 Gauge # 10-1-1 or 12 Gauge # 12-1-1 wire is recommended for 10" brake assemblies, like part # AKEBRK-35-SA, is because they pull more power than the lights on your trailer. I believe the green wire you are referring to carries the right turn/stop lighting functions as you can see from the attached photo of a trailer side 4-Way. The 14 and 16 gauge wires are too small for the amount of power needing to get to the brake assemblies and they could potentially get too hot,...

  • Circuit Configuration in RV-Type 7-Way Trailer Wiring
Your photo shows the 7-way trailer wiring setup that we call the RV format. The photo I linked shows an actual trailer plug # A10-7W6 like yours and the circuit arrangement is the same as your photo diagram. For reference, the included article covers all wiring formats in detail. The item you referenced, replacement OEM wiring harness # 118242, is configured in the same way.

  • Troubleshooting Gooseneck Trailer Wiring Connection with Tow Vehicle
It sounds like you have tested your truck with other trailers and your trailer with other trucks and have found the wiring circuits to connect and function correctly. This tends to suggest that there is just an issue between the two specific connectors. 7-way sockets and plugs like # PK11893 that you referenced and # A10-7W6 will vary slightly in their fit with one another so in some cases one or more circuits in the 7-way, such as the trailer brake circuit for example, may not make good...

I did some research and found that your boat is 18-ft 9-inches long. You did not say if your trailer has brakes included which will make a difference when installing the wiring. If you do not have brakes on the trailer and you only need wiring for the lights I recommend part # A35W42B. This is a 35-ft long harness and it has a 4-way flat trailer connector included. This is a wishbone harness that means the running light is split at the connector and the brown running light wire is run...

  • How To Wire Third Brake Light for Truck Cap on Chevy Colorado
In order to power the third brake light on a truck bed cap you will need the Pacer Performance 3rd Brake Light Logic Module part # PP20-702. The reason you need the module is that the brake/turn signal circuits and trailer lighting circuits are combined so you need to separate the brake/turn signals or else the third brake light would blink when turning. • Electric Brake Compatibility on a Boat Trailer
Electric brakes on a boat trailer are able to be used without much issue at all. There obviously is an issue with water and electricity, so it is recommended to disconnect the trailer connection when your trailer is being submerged for launch. Many boat trailers are moving to electric systems. I do recommend using dielectric...
