Transfering truck cap from 2016 to 2020 Chevy colorado LT with trailering package. Is there a tap for the third brake light on the cap? What about power for the cap interior lights? Is there an easy way to tap into the tr ailer brake light circuit and power? Thanks!

Expert Reply:
In order to power the third brake light on a truck bed cap you will need the Pacer Performance 3rd Brake Light Logic Module part # PP20-702. The reason you need the module is that the brake/turn signal circuits and trailer lighting circuits are combined so you need to separate the brake/turn signals or else the third brake light would blink when turning. If you didn't want to splice into any wires on the vehicle you could make your own harness with the Mighty Cord 7-Way RV-Style Trailer Connector part # A10-7W6 and the Pacer Performance 3rd Brake Light Logic Module part # PP20-702 otherwise you would just need to splice into either the vehicle's tail light or vehicle's trailer tail light circuit with quick splice connectors.
In order to power the interior light you could either run a wire to the battery or just use the trailer battery charge line circuit on the vehicle's trailer wiring circuit.
