Blue Ox Weight Distribution Hitch - BLU47FR

Highlights

  • Sway Control Keeps Your Trailer Steady: Steel-on-steel friction and a built-in positive caster angle hold your trailer in line and fight sway from wind or passing traffic.
  • Levels Your Ride for Better Handling: Distributes 600–800 lbs of tongue weight across all axles to reduce sag and restore steering control.
  • Fast Setup with Pre-Set Head Angle: Hitch head has pre-set pitch, so there’s no washer stacking—just mount and go.
  • Fits a Wide Range of Trailer Frames: Clamp-on L-brackets adjust along frames up to 6" tall and mount 20"–25" from the hitch ball.
  • Built Heavy for Long-Term Towing: Powder-coated steel construction resists corrosion and includes a 2-5/16" ball plus 7-hole shank offering 2" drop or 8" rise.
  • Easy Maintenance and Upgrades: Grease zerks simplify lubrication, and bars can be swapped to raise or lower capacity when trailer weight changes.

Features to know about

Keeps the Trailer Steady in Crosswinds: Built-In Sway Control with Steel-on-Steel Friction

Highway gusts and passing semis are no match for the Blue Ox TrackPro’s integrated sway control. The system uses steel-on-steel friction between the spring bars and L-brackets to fight sway as soon as it starts. It holds your trailer in line and brings it back to center if wind or road movement tries to push it off course. The rigid, frame-mounted setup keeps the trailer tracking straight and steady for confident towing.

Simplifies Setup and Alignment: Pre-Set Pitch and Positive Caster Head

Getting the head angle right can be one of the trickiest parts of installing a weight distribution hitch. The TrackPro makes that easy with a pre-set pitch built right into the head assembly. Its positive caster angle—like what’s used in automotive steering—helps the trailer self-center and keeps it aligned behind you. That means fewer adjustments, no extra washers, and a smoother install. Once you position the head on the 7-hole shank for height, you’re ready to tow.

Levels Out the Load for a Stable Ride: Distributes 600–800 lbs Tongue Weight, 8,000 lbs GTW

A level rig tows better and brakes more predictably. This setup evenly spreads 600–800 lbs of tongue weight across all the axles on your vehicle and trailer, restoring balance and control. With an 8,000-lb gross towing weight rating, the TrackPro helps you make the most of your hitch’s capacity while keeping the ride smooth and stable. It fits 2" x 2" receivers and accommodates trailer frames up to 6" tall.

Built Tough and Easy to Maintain: Powder-Coated Steel with Grease Zerks

The TrackPro is made from heavy-duty, powder-coated steel for durability and corrosion resistance. Each trunnion spring bar includes a grease zerk at the back, so you can keep the pivots lubricated without disassembly. The tapered bar design flexes under load for a smoother ride instead of a rigid bounce. Everything you need—head assembly, adjustable shank, 2-5/16" hitch ball, lift lever, L-brackets, pin and clip—is included, along with a limited lifetime warranty.

Quality of material is good. would not recommend or purchase again due to difficulty of installation and use.

Install was easy works like it says I have no more when I take it on my trip

by:

One week after I made my order I call customer service to make a change in my order, they made the correction for me and I received my order in a very reasonable time at no extra charge,They were very helpful.

Reliable beast of a hitch. Gives a smooth, sway-free ride with my 28’ trailer towed by a shorter Dodge Durango.

by:

Best investment I have made in my trailer other than the trailer itself. Works great

I have been using this weight distribution hitch for about a year. It has made the ride better and safer. Im pulling a 24ft enclosed trailer with a Tundra with no problems.

by:

The 70 lbs plus Blue Ox Track Pro arrived in good shape but the cardboard container was pretty tore up. I’m not done installing the hitch. I had to move my propane tanks forward and remount. I’m well pleased with the components and the instruction manual.

by:

Wow!! What a difference in the tow.The Blue Ox Trackpro leveled my truck and camper out like they should be and the tow is like night and day. I would highly recommend this product to anyone

by:

On your web site I compared several different weight distribution with sway control hitches (good selection) and picked the Blue Ox TrackPro rated for my trailer. I watched your install video and before and after install demo on the test track, very impressive. I purchased, installed, did a test run and so far I’m very satisfied. Can’t wait to take it on a trip.

by:

It went on fairly easy. It weighted more than I thought it would, I have had other WD hitches and it is the hardest one that I have used to hook up the trailer with. the tool to install the weight bars is very hard to use. I have not driven it on the high way but I think it will help my sway problem.

by:

I like the hitch and it works great with my '07 Tundra and 27' Travel Trailer. It makes the two feel like you're driving a single vehicle and Cross winds and buffeting from passing semi's is virtually unnoticeable. Unfortunately, the Powder coating leaves a bit to be desired and warrants a significant mark down in the rating.

Pros: Easy of installation and hooking up the hitch. Adjustments are also very simple.

Cons: The "Powder Coating" is atrocious. It showed up flaking out of the box and just continued flaking during the installation. So, it started immediately surface rusting. I didn't think it worth returning and I guess I will just touch it up with spray paint as needed. Powder coating should be significantly tougher than what I see on this hitch. If it wasn't for this I would absolutely give it 5 stars. In the picture with the 2 bolts is the most obvious example of the flaking powder coat.

Oh that looks bad, but thankfully, you can clean off and cover up that rust with a rust-oleum type of paint. I have a link below for your reference. I have also sent your information over to our customer service department for them to look into some sort of compensation.

by:

My experience started off with a total failure by the shipping dept. Box completely blown out on both ends, and parts rolling around loose in the UPS truck. So my parts got beat up, management offered me 15 bucks for spray paint. Which they can keep. Assembled my hitch, amazed by having all the parts, despite the delivery. Great hitch, engineered well..

by:

We're so glad we spoke with Jaime B at etrailer when we were looking for a weight distribution hitch with anti-sway. She recommended this hitch for our new Grand Design Imagine XLS 17MKE travel trailer. It arrived much sooner than expected and I found the installation to be very straight forward. The quality of the product, materials and fabrication were top notch. I was fortunate that the brackets cleared everything and so I was able to finish all but the test drive in about 2 hours. Highly recommended. Thank you Jaime B!

by:

after one year i can say the improvent over distribution and sway is remarkably better than the "chained" system I had. Blue ox is easy to hitch up and very easy to disengage once you were at your destination.

by:

I went through 3 other weight distribution units before I received this blue ox .
It is very simple to install and worked very well so far . We have use it to tow a 23 ft trailer over 10 times with zero issues. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good WDH

by:

Ordered for our 2017 Toyota Sequoia. The quality of the unit is quite impressive. Quality castings, machinings, powder coat paint, and welding. Also, really like the ease of setting it up.
Prior to placing the order, I had several techniacal questions related to hitch height and the selection of the capaciy of the hitch. The tech staff at etrailer were superb! Thanks much from a first-time WD hitch user.

by:

The unit was delivered in about a week, all parts were there, and the instructions were easy to follow. I haven’t pulled my camper any real distance besides moving it around the house but looks like it leveled everything out.

One thing that was more annoying than anything was that the 2 5/16 ball came installed on the unit. According to the e-trailer experts the recommended hitch was 800 lbs tongue weight and 8000 lbs bars. My camper has only a 2” hitch which comes on the 600 / 6000 lbs rated hitch. So I had to remove the installed ball and buy a 2” hitch. Not a deal breaker but it would be nice to have the option to have a 2” installed for those of us needing the heavier bars but the smaller hitch ball.

by:

I was told to purchase Blue Ox WDH from a friend. It seems to be very well built easier to attach and back up with still attached to trailer. Also seems to be smoother/quieter then other brands. It must be because of the load bars shape.

This is by far one of the best WDH I have had. Easy to use and less stressful then the chains

by:

I’ve been very satisfied with the quality of this product

by:

I used this twice and then purchased another brand, it did not fit my rig properly. In order to put the arms on the brackets (that are on the trailer) I had to raise the rear of the truck very high. Not fun or safe.

Using a trailer jack to lift the truck and trailer up a bit to take tension weight off the bars is often an easier way to put them on.

by:

I received my purchase and unfortunately it was missing half the contents. I have purchased before without issues. This may just be an isolated issue. Will say customer service is great and they promptly sent me return label to return the hitch.

by:

Hello, The weight distribution seems to work fine. We took our traveler trailer on 2 trips since purchasing the trailer hitch and all the accessories. The sway is just frightening. We have not had any real wind, this was in May and July of this year. But super scary, and when a tractor trailer passes us, even just one, forget it. We are towing with a big Ford Expition also. I would not recommend this model. It was expensive and we will have to figure out what we are going to replace it with. Gil

Excessive sway may indicate that the trailer is improperly loaded. As a guideline, the tongue weight should be 10-15 percent of gross trailer weight. If it is not, redistribute the weight accordingly. If you encounter continuous sway or swaying that does not dissipate quickly, adjust the load. I however, do not know your trailer or weights so you may need a biggerstronger system. If you let me know what you are working with I can get you a better system.

All Good ! With two exceptions #1. the Powder Coating on the Plats was Flaking off! #2. The Box Broke Open and parts fell out _ Suggest review of Packaging Materials

by:

I bought this in April '22 for our new trailer. The second day of our trip to Alaska, one of the Retaining Keys with the cotter pin fell off. It was while hooking up to our campsite that we saw it was gone and the spring bar bar had been free of mooring. Luckily we had a C Bolt and duck tape to hold the one sway bar without the retaining key and taped up the other to make sure it didn't fall off on the rest of our journey. When we called Blue Ox they sent two day to AK the two packages of the retaining key w/step. These turned out different than the ones that came on the TracPro and are thicker and shorter - I think these were suppose to come with the TracPro WD/Sway and should have been in the package when we got it. There is too much play between the sring bar and the L Bracket with the Retaining key that was in our order. Pictures for reference. If you order the Blue Ox TracPro, call make and sure you get the correct Retaining Keys with it, you should not have to buy them separately.

by:

Received my weight distribution hitch with two days of placing my order. The hitch works well for my set up and installation was easy. My truck hitch weight is 600lbs. and max tow weight is 6000lbs. My 22ft. long RV trailer max capacity loaded is about 20% less than my trucks specs. Etrailer sells quality accessories. Their prices are good, and their experience, knowledge and customer service are the best. It would be hard to find a better dealer that could provide better service with very fast shipping.

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 2022 Keystone Springdale Mini 1750RD
Hey Michelle! There are definitely a lot of different weight distribution hitch (WDH) options out there. The most important thing is to make sure it is properly rated for the tongue weight of your setup. Looking at the specs for the 2022 Keystone Springdale Mini 1750RD it has a dry (unloaded) tongue weight of 520 lbs and a GVWR of 4,400 lbs. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight so at the high end, fully loaded, you're going to be around 660 lbs. For occasional,...

Hey Tom congrats on the new trailer! You could use a tongue weight scale like item # e99044 to get an exact number. However, what we typically do is get your trailer's total loaded down weight and multiple that by 10% - 15% and whatever those numbers are we find a weight distribution system within that range. The Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control item # BLU47FR, you referenced has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 800 lbs. What kind of trailer do you have? I can look...

To confirm which weight distribution hitch will work to tow your trailer with a GVWR of 4995lbs you will need to measure its tongue weight, as the tongue weight rating is usually with the trailer unloaded and will not be accurate. The easiest way to get an accurate tongue weight measurement is with a tongue weight scale like the # e99044, but there are other methods that are outlined in the included help article. Since your trailers GVWR is 4995lbs and tongue weight is typically 10-15%...

Hey Patrick, thanks for reaching out! I recommend using the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TFR1504E for trailer towing with your 2020 Ford F-150 because this is rated to help out with 6,000 lbs, but it won't be feeling the full weight of your 7K trailer. Timbren's have a reputation for making the unloaded ride of a truck a bit more stiff which is why I recommend the lightest weight rating. The other thing to keep in mind is that a properly rated weight distribution system...

Hey Ezra, I can definitely help you with this decision. First let me say, those are all great choices. The main reason I suggest going with the TrackPro # BLU47FR is how it handles sway. A system like the TrackPro uses a spring bar design to flex more naturally instead of acting like a stiff lever. That lets it absorb bumps better and keeps the trailer more stable. It also uses those bars to constantly balance the load side-to-side, so it’s helping prevent sway instead of just reacting...
