Will Adding Wider Tires to a 2022 Keystone Springdale Mini Increase Stability

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/28/2024

Question:

Camper feels top heavy: When pulling my 2022 Keystone Springdale Mini, my camper feels top heavy to me. I currently still have the factory tires on it, which feels like I am driving on donuts. I was wondering if I could put wider tires with newer more stylish rims on the camper? Would this give me more stabilization? - Thank you in advance.

Thanks for reaching out, Robert!

Changing the tires to anything wider that still fits will be pretty negligible when it comes to more stabilization. If you'd still like to upgrade for looks then I recommend checking out the Westlake ST205/75R14 Radial Tire w 14" Eagle Aluminum Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 # WST39FR because this is a high-performance tire on a wheel that has a nice aggressive style. If you have a different tire size and/or bolt pattern please let me know and I can link a different part.

To increase the stabilization of your trailer I recommend using a weight distribution system with built-in sway control if you aren't already doing so. The 8K Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU47FR is a great option with a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 800 lbs. If you can verify your GVWR I can let you know if this is the correct size for your trailer.

Hey Robert, how did things go after trying the Blue Ox TrackPro for your Springdale Mini? Did it help the camper feel more stable on the road? Your update could make it easier for others dealing with the same top-heavy feel.
