Updated 09/20/2024 | Published 09/17/2024

Question:

I have a 2024 Toyota Tundra iForce Max Hybrid, we are pulling a travel trailer approximately 5500 lbs. What is the recommended air bag we should install to decrease the back in sagging, and do you have what we need? Thank you

Hey Tracy, thanks for reaching out!

I recommend going with the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs # F89VV as long as your 2024 Toyota Tundra isn't equipped with a factory air suspension, because the Firestone air bags have the best construction which translates to more peace of mind while towing.

One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to start off with a weight distribution system if you aren't already using one. I checked the online owner's manual for your 2024 Tundra and Toyota actually recommends using one if the trailer weighs at least 5,000 lbs.

A weight distribution is your first line of defense because an air bag essentially forces the trailer tongue into the level spot while a weight distribution actually distributes the tongue weight among the axles so you get better control. You can definitely use both together, but a properly rated weight distribution is way less likely to need the assistance of air bags.

For your application I recommend checking out the Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU47FR because it has a tongue weight range of 600 lbs - 800 lbs which should be right in your wheelhouse.
