Features to know about

Know Your Weight. Drive Safer.

Your trailer looks fine. Your truck's not squatting. But that doesn't mean your rig is safe! The Big Truck Big RV (BTBRV) 2K scale takes the guesswork out of loading. It reads your actual tongue weight, so you'll know if you're in that safe 10 to 15 percent zone. Too far back and you'll fishtail. Too far forward and you'll overload the hitch. This scale shows you where you're at before any of that happens. This isn't just about getting the load right. Your family's riding in that truck too.

Tested, Trusted, and JD Approved

JD's the guy behind Big Truck Big RV and he doesn't just slap his name on gear he doesn't use. He's been towing long enough to know what works and what doesn't. He's used this scale, trusted it, and loaded it up with his own family riding shotgun. This scale's been under real trailers and taken on real trips, not just a showroom floor. If it says BTBRV, it's been tested and used in the kind of conditions that separate the good stuff from the junk.

Works great and is very accurate. I weighed the rig and got a 400lb tongue weight. I added 2 50lb sacks of chicken feed on the tongue and reweighed it and I got 500lb tongue weight. Its worth the money to know what you got before you hit the road.
by:
Really handy tool to have if you're pulling trailers -especially larger ones. I did the bathroom scale/offset beam method prior to getting this and was surprised on the difference. Suspect a couple of things on my setup that contributed to the error; for the $120 versus the messing around trying to get an accurate set up is well worth it. Plus you can carry with you and easily check anytime in your travels. I got the 2000 range but really only needed the 1000 lb range.
by:
Perfect height for my R-Pod tongue. Numbers on gage could be larger. An easy way to know the tongue weight preventing and overloadeding the hitch on the vehicle.
by:
Just do as the direction say and you'll be okay as a matter of fact I've had three people and I've been charging $50 just to weigh their tongue if I'm right there then it's 25 so I'll make my money back on the scale so thank you

You make a great point Joe, those weigh stations can get up there. So glad this will make life easier for you. What kind of trailer are you using it on?

@HeatherA using it on a 2026 Grand design 2500 that I just bought last September but I have tried it on some friends trailers as well as a couple of people at the campground cuz they asked me what it was and I told him it was a scale to measure your tongue

@TravelT Nice, that's a fun way to make friends. That Grand Design 2500 is a nice setup too. Have you noticed much difference in handling after dialing in your tongue weight? It’s always interesting to hear how a small adjustment there can make a big impact on sway and overall ride. Really appreciate you sharing how you’re using it out in the real world.

Straightforward to use. Helpful to me in that verifying the tongue weight of my travel trailer, as loaded for travel, is important in assuring safe operation - part of which lies in selecting the appropriate weight-distributing hitch setup and anti-sway measures.
by:
Does what I wanted, but, it could benefit with some structure like a small jack stand. Seems unstable even on a level, hard surface with the wheels chocked.
by:
Scale worked great. Tongue weight was less than expected.
by:
Great customer service and fast shipping. Maybe one of the best shipping notification systems I've ever experienced.
by:
Works as it should .Packaged well , fast shipping
by:
Working perfectly really glad that I purchased this scale now I can make sure that I'm within the correct weight range on both of my Trailers. Would definitely purchase again. Thanks.
by:
Just what I needed , very quick delivery , thank etrailer
by:
I like how easy it is to set up and use. It makes adjusting the tongue weight simple and straightforward.
by:
Easy to use and makes towing safer
by:
Seems well built. I wish the dial was bigger so it was easier to get an accurate reading at a glace. I wish I had more uses for it, but handy to have around before we set off on camping trips.
by:
Worked great, glad I found it on your Website!!
by:
I haven’t used it yet, but received it quickly, was well packed with minimum packaging, & looks like a well built, high quality product.
by:
Noah was great in replacing the defective item.
by:

  • Why Choose BTBRV Trailer Jack Foot Scale Over Standalone BTBRV 2,000 lb Scale
Hey Tom, great question! Both products provide an easy way to measure tongue weight, but they excel in different situations. The BTBRV Trailer Jack Foot Scale # BTBRV014 measures tongue weight at the trailer jack, so you don't need to position a separate scale under the coupler. This can be especially convenient if you're making adjustments while the trailer is already parked or if you'd rather not move your tow vehicle out of the way to place a standalone scale. If you regularly tow multiple...

  • Why Choose the 2,000 lb BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale Over 1,000 lb Model
Hey Jeff, great question! Choose the 2,000 lb model if you tow larger travel trailers, enclosed trailers, dump trailers, equipment trailers, or other heavy-duty trailers with tongue weights that could exceed 1,000 lbs. It works for lighter trailers as well, and can be handy if you have a variety of trailers you're working with. The BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale # BTBRV49FR measures tongue weights up to 2,000 lbs, giving you the capacity needed for larger towing applications. It is also available...

  • Can The BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale BTBRV49FR Be Laid Down On It's Side During Storage?
Hey Marcus, thanks for reaching out. Yes, you can lay the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale # BTBRV49FR down on its side for storage. It does not need to remain upright when it is not being used. The important part is to have it upright on its 6" footplate when actually measuring tongue weight so the load is applied straight down through the scale. For storage, laying it horizontally is perfectly fine; I’d just keep it somewhere protected so the gauge, ball, and adjustment mechanism...

  • How Accurate is the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale?
It's extremely accurate Ron. The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale item # BTBRV49FR has been tested by the manufacturer to be within 5% of the scales range. We've had quite a few customers compare it to weights they've gotten from CAT scales. What kind of trailer do you have?

  • Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch Rating for 2026 Grand Design Imagine 2670MK/2800BH
Hey Moses! With that GVWR you either have the 2026 Grand Design Imagine 2670MK or the 2800BH. The correct rating for a weight distribution hitch (WDH) depends on your tongue weight. It looks like the dry tongue weight for the 2670MK is 785 lbs and the 2800BH is 746 lbs. Once you add propane and batteries you'll be sitting a bit higher. You also have to consider what you load in the trailer. It is a good idea to measure using a scale like # BTBRV49FR or # BTBRV76FR (with SnapPad). Tongue...

  • How to Determine Tongue Weight on Trailer
Hey Travis! Probably the easiest thing to do is pick up a scale like the BTBRV # BTBRV76FR. You can use this to measure your tongue weight, and also make sure things are properly balanced. You can also take it to a commercial scale, or try the bathroom scale method. I attached a help article further down on this page which covers all three methods. Once you know your tongue weight you can determine which weight distribution hitch is best for your setup. I recommend Equal-i-zer since it...

  • Is 2k BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers Adjustable
Hey Neal, welcome back! The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers - 2,000 lbs # BTBRV49FR is not adjustable. It has a fixed height of 17-1/4". At that height, and with a 2,000 lb capacity, you will be able to get a measurement on a lot of different trailers. The # BTBRV76FR with the SnapPad will add approximately 1" to that overall height along with the increased stability. If you needed more height beyond that, you could add a SnapPad StakPad # SN74VR or other leveling blocks...

  • Ideal Tongue Weight for Safely Towing Travel Trailer
Hi Alex! As a general rule, your trailer's tongue weight should be approximately 10% to 15% of the loaded trailer weight. Keeping your tongue weight within this range helps improve stability and reduce the chance of trailer sway while towing. Using a scale like the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers - 2,000 lbs # BTBRV49FR or # BTBRV76FR (with SnapPad) makes it easy to verify that your trailer is properly balanced before you hit the road. • Can I Use the Weigh Safe Aero Hitch as a TW Scale for a 2" Hitch Ball w/o the Clamshell Adapter?
Hi Jim, You can definitely use the Weigh Safe Aero Hitch part # WS47MR just to measure the tongue weight and not for towing if you want. However, I don't recommend using a 2" hitch ball without a clamshell adapter on it to measure the trailer's tongue weight. The reason for that being that the 2" ball is smaller than a 2 5/16" coupler so it won't sit properly on the scale. For the tongue weight measurement to be accurate the scale needs to be properly loaded, and an undersized ball can...

  • Best Fastway Weight Distribution Hitch For 2020 Grand Design Serenova 160LG
Hey Mike, thanks for reaching out. The correct Fastway e2 Weight Distribution hitch for your Grand Design Serenova 160LG will completely depend on the loaded tongue weight. The total tongue weight should be about 10%-15% of the GVWR so based on that math you should be about the 600-800 lb range once you are fully loaded. For that weight, the 8K Fastway system # FA92-00-0800 will be the best option. This is for trailers with a tongue weight between 400 and 800 lbs and it sounds like you'll...
