Can The BTBRV Tongue Weight Scale BTBRV49FR Be Laid Down On It's Side During Storage?

Question:

Is this scale able to be laid down, or must it always be upright, even in storage?

Hey Marcus, thanks for reaching out. Yes, you can lay the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale # BTBRV49FR down on its side for storage. It does not need to remain upright when it is not being used.

The important part is to have it upright on its 6" footplate when actually measuring tongue weight so the load is applied straight down through the scale. For storage, laying it horizontally is perfectly fine; I’d just keep it somewhere protected so the gauge, ball, and adjustment mechanism are not getting knocked around by other gear.

Where will you store it? Its padded case, a truck box, or the trailer compartment?

Thanks! If it comes with its own case, it'd most likely be store there.

@Marcus So the # BTBRV49FR is just the standalone scale, but if you want a storage bag we do have one available as part # BTBRV002. That is going to be the best way to keep it protected.

@JesseM right now I’ve been storing it upright, but I don’t see where there will be any problem in laying it down since it’s a analog gauge that should not affect it any but I have the room to stored upright so that’s how I stored, but I don’t see any problem and laying it down due to it being an analog gauge

I have been storing mine vertical but there is nothing documenting the special needs for storing. When shipping there were no restrictions. based on construction I would just make sure gauge and the top are protected from damage regardless of how it is stored.
