Features to know about

Safer towing, smarter setup

Hand on scale

If your trailer sways, or your truck feels light in the steering, or unsettled over bumps, your tongue weight could be off. This scale helps you dial it in before you hit the road. With a simple squeeze of the lever, you can adjust the height with one hand and lower the trailer with the other. Just set the foot in 2" steps, position it under the coupler, and crank your jack a couple inches. You'll get a clear, accurate reading in seconds. No math. No guesswork. Just a smoother, safer tow.

Stable, secure, and SnapPad equipped

Hand holding SnapPad

Ever set up on gravel or grass and felt your rig teeter like it's one gust away from tipping? This scales wide steel foot stays planted so you get accurate readings even when the ground's working against you. The built-in set screw holds the foot in place, so it doesn't drop out while you're adjusting the height. And to boost your footing, it comes with a 6" SnapPad that adds grip and stability when things get sketchy.

Easy-to-read gauge

Close-up of Gauge

No squinting, no second guessing. The large analog display shows tongue weight in 50-lb increments up to 2,000 lbs. It also shows tongue weight in tons, so you'll know right away if you're creeping up on your vehicle's limits.

Tested, trusted, and JD approved

BTBRV Logo

This isn't just some random tool with a logo slapped on it. JD from Big Truck Big RV has spent years hauling, wrenching, and testing gear in the real world, and he only puts his name on the gear he actually uses. All BTBRV products go through the wringer before they make the cut. No BS. No gimmicks. Just reliable gear that does what it's supposed to when it matters most.

Video Transcript for Review of Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale - Analog Scale - BTBRV27FR

Hi, everyone. Steven here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at our Big Truck Big RV Weight Scale for Trailers with the included SnapPad Jack Stand Pad. And this is gonna be rated and show you a gauge up to 2,000 pounds capacity in 50 pound increments. So, it's gonna be great. There's a closeup view of what that scale looks like.

It's a one handed setup. You have a nice spring lever here on the side that you can go up or down. And you've got four different height adjustments there that you can use as far as your options with the handheld lever. And it works just that easy. Wow, that's a faster setup than cranking and everything because you can make this the right height if you need.

How you're gonna use it You're gonna wanna put this about a couple inches underneath your coupler. And then, obviously you want to drop the coupler right on top here and then put all the weight of the trailer on there. And then, it's gonna give you your readout that you need to see if you're in that safe zone on your tongue weight. It has a nice stable foot plate here. It's a six-inch diameter foot plate.

And again, this unit is including the SnapPad Jack Stand Pad. And the way you would connect that is you just kinda work it all the way around. Maybe use a screwdriver or something to help get it in there. And then once you've got it in there, it's gonna be held in place. Very, very nice.

It does take a little effort to get this kind of pried up 'cause it is a heavy-duty rubber construction. So, I'm not gonna put it on today for you. But this will go right inside of there and you've got a nice lip all the way, all the way around there that's gonna overlap about a quarter inch or so, and that's gonna be what's gonna hold that in place. And once you got that on, no screws required. It's simply gonna hold onto the bottom of that foot plate and you're gonna be good to go. Now, this is nice and small and compact, so you can put it inside of a toolbox, maybe cargo area, trunk. It's gonna be ready to use whenever you need to use it. Folks, that is gonna wrap it up for our look together at the Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers with included SnapPad Jack Stand Pad. I'm Steven. As always, please stay safe while you're towing.

This product is solid, sturdy and easy to use. The on,y suggestion is to make the dial easier to see and discern the wight. It has given me greater confidence in knowing what my tongue weeght is .Perhaps enlarge the surface area of the face with larger numbers Customer service, as always with e-trailer was excellent.

Works as advertised. Was a little short for my tongue height, even fully extended. Nothing a block couldn’t fix though.

by:

Disappointing. I was hoping for a tongue weight of under 700 lbs, it was 850. I’m sure it’s the scale and not the twin fully filled propane tanks and weight distributing hitch stored in the front trailer compartment.

I’m glad I bought it. I’m a numbers guy and this is my first RV. Now I have the information for a safe tow. BTW, your scale was the only affordable one I found that did less than 100 lb increments.

Great product. It is super easy to use and gives me accurate important information.

by:

It is easy to use. The reason only 4 stars is the gauge to read is upside down so have to take a picture of it, make sure my auto rotate is off, and flip my phone to see the weight.

Easy to use and accurate

  • Can 2017 Ford F-150 Carry More Than 500 lbs of Tongue Weight
Hey Don, welcome back! You are always going to be limited by the lowest number when it comes to towing/tongue weight capacity. Even though the hitch is rated higher you're stuck with 500 lbs as the max. It is as you said, the tongue weight includes the Yakima EXO with gear plus the tongue weight of your trailer. If you aren't sure about your tongue weight I recommend getting a scale like # BTBRV27FR or even a Weigh Safe ball mount # WS56KR. I'm not sure how much your tongue weight is...

  • Will Equal-i-zer WDH Work With 2021 Ford F-150 Towing 2025 Winnebago Micro Minnie 1800BH
Hey Michael! The # EQ37100ET is designed best for a 600-1,000 lb tongue weight range. Based on the weight of that trailer you may be better off with the # EQ37060ET for 200-600 lbs of tongue weight. Tongue weight is typically 10-15% of the loaded trailer weight so you're right in the middle potentially. Realistically it would be best to measure with a scale like the # BTBRV27FR to be sure. Also, the weight of anything you're carrying behind the rear axle in your truck counts as trailer...

  • Weight Distribution Hitch for 2024 Toyota Tundra Towing Magic Tilt Tandem Axle Trailer
Hey Chad! How tall is the tongue of your trailer? It looks like the frame is quite a bit taller than the actual trailer tongue from some of the pictures I looked at. This is important because you're going to need a pole tongue adapter like # EQ95-01-5950 to use a weight distribution hitch on your trailer. The Equal-i-zer system is the best option but will only fit trailer tongues up to 5" tall. There are adapter offerings from Reese and Blue Ox as well but they only go up to 6" tall. In...

  • Does Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers with SnapPad Include Storage Bag
Hey Regean! The Big Truck Big RV Tongue Weight Scale for Trailers with SnapPad # BTBRV27FR does not include the storage bag. You can pick up the storage bag separately # BTBRV002. You can also get the jack with the bag # BTBRV44FR and add the SnapPad # SN47FR separately. Sometimes the prices vary so I would go with whatever combination has the lowest cost.
