What is the Difference Between the Timbren Kits for a 2024 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Updated 01/27/2026 | Published 08/24/2024

Question:

What is the difference between the 250 and the 350 timbren kits? I have a f350 and I pull a 24 foot trailer that weighs 9500 lbs. I dont want to touch the timbrens unless I am towing. Is the 350 taller or is it the same but comes with a spacer. Thanks

Great question, Bret!

The Timbren Kit # TFR250SDJ is for a standard pickup while the Timbren Kit # TFRTT350J is for Severe Service vehicles so you would want the 250 in this case.

Since you said you want to retain a factory ride quality when unloaded I actually recommend going with the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-127-54 instead. These have a lower capacity at 2,800 lbs, but this is still enough to handle the tongue weight of your 9,500 lb trailer, and you won't feel anything when you aren't towing.

The Timbrens are known for being really stiff and effecting the unloaded ride quality of the vehicles they're installed on which is why I don't recommend them for your application.

Hey Bret, how did the SumoSprings work out on your F-350 when towing your 24-foot trailer? Your feedback could really help others trying to balance towing support with a smooth unloaded ride.
