The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The circuit board is sealed, which means that water will not damage the diodes or circuit board.
A P2-rated light produces a 45-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 90 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be seen straight on, but it cannot be seen clearly from the side. So this type of light can be used as either a side marker light or a clearance light, but it cannot function as both. If you need both functions, then you must install 2 separate lights on your trailer - one as a front or rear clearance light and one as a side marker light.
Surface-mount trailer lights install using a flange or bracket with mounting holes. These lights lay flat against the trailer surface and only require a small, often pre-existing hole, for wiring. Mounting hardware is used to secure the light to the trailer.

Today we are going to take a look at Petersons Piranha LED Small Trailer Clearance Light, part number 168R. This light utilizes 2 LEDs on the inside with a life expectancy of 1,000 hours. Its sonically welded and sealed to keep moisture out of the light. It utilizes a 2 wire design, meaning you will have 1 wire for power, and the other wire will be your electrical ground. Its also designed to use a mounting base thats sold separately to attach to your trailer.
Next we are going to hook up the light to a power supply, so you can see how it looks. Well connect our white wire to ground, and our red wire to our power. Next well turn off the overhead lights so you can see how bright the light is. And that does it for Petersons Piranha LED Small Trailer Clearance Light, part number 168R.

These lights were the perfect brightness, very rugged, and easy to install inside protected areas of the frame on the updated raft trailer. etrailer has great selection, the website makes it easy to find the best parts for the job, and their communication is excellent. Their videos and reviews are invaluable.
The 168R side marker light paired with the B168-18 mounting gasket were easy to mount and work perfectly.
Small in size, but very bright. Lights were sealed well on the back and have plenty of pigtail length. Very happy with the light and price. Great value as long as they hold up over time.
All the products have been great. They were installed on an older livestock trailer and they just keeping going. The white LED lights we put on the inside work too good. When I first pulled them out I thought they were too small and would do the job. They are so good we rarely use the one up front because the back one does such a great job.

Great little lights nobody had them locally, the driver asked me if I could get him a few replacements I figured E Trailer would have them and they were in my office before weeks end. I have never had one of these burn out but I have had a few get crushed but they still worked after that !
