Older incandescent lights can dim quickly and draw more power than necessary. This Piranha Slim-Line LED Mini Clearance or Side Marker Light uses two LEDs that put out bright, vibrant light while drawing only 0.04 amps at 12V. It’s rated for a 100,000-hour life, so you get long-lasting performance without swapping out bulbs or worrying about brittle filaments. With an input range of 9V–16V DC, it’s efficient and steady across common trailer setups.
Water damage is one of the fastest ways to kill a trailer light, but this one is sealed tight. The housing and lens are completely waterproof, making it safe for use on trailers that might get submerged. The sealed circuit board protects the diodes from moisture and corrosion, keeping the light reliable even after repeated dunking or exposure to the elements.
When space is tight, the compact size of this light makes installation simple. At only 2-5/8" long, 3/4" wide, and 5/8" thick, it lays nearly flush against the surface. The surface-mount design uses a flange with mounting holes spaced 1-15/16" center-to-center, and only a small hole is needed for the wiring. That means a clean look and no bulky housings sticking out to catch on anything.
Rough roads and constant vibration can shake loose or damage traditional bulbs. This light’s surface-mounted diode (SMD) construction keeps everything solid and stable. The LED circuit board is built to handle shock better than older designs, with improved heat distribution that allows a thinner profile without sacrificing durability.
Visibility matters for safety and legal compliance. This light’s P2 rating means it produces a 90-degree total beam spread—45 degrees to either side of centerline—so it works effectively as either a clearance or side marker light when properly mounted. DOT compliance gives you confidence that it meets lighting standards while keeping your setup simple and dependable.

Today we are going to take a look at Petersons Piranha LED Small Trailer Clearance Light, part number 168R. This light utilizes 2 LEDs on the inside with a life expectancy of 1,000 hours. Its sonically welded and sealed to keep moisture out of the light. It utilizes a 2 wire design, meaning you will have 1 wire for power, and the other wire will be your electrical ground. Its also designed to use a mounting base thats sold separately to attach to your trailer.
Next we are going to hook up the light to a power supply, so you can see how it looks. Well connect our white wire to ground, and our red wire to our power. Next well turn off the overhead lights so you can see how bright the light is. And that does it for Petersons Piranha LED Small Trailer Clearance Light, part number 168R.

Just over one year and no issues having to replace lights
