How To Wire LED Trailer License Plate Light For Cargo Carrier To A 4 Way Flat

Question:
My 2021 Subaru Ascent has both 7-pin and 4-pin trailer harness connections. Can I buy a mating plug-in harness that already has wires that could be used to provide power to this license plate light for use with a bike rack? Im trying to avoid unnecessarily tapping into the vehicles wiring.

I have a solution for you to hook up the Optronics LED Trailer License Plate Light w/ Bracket # LPL55CB to your 2021 Subaru Ascent without tapping into the wiring. You could install Hopkins Endurance Easy-Pull Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Connector - Trailer End - Jacketed - 48" # HM38134 into the 4 way flat plug at the back of your vehicle which would provide you with 4 bare wires. You could then wire the white ground wire on the LED lights to the white wire on the Hopkins 4 way harness. Then connect the black wire on the LED lights to the brown tail light wire on the Hopkins 4 way harness. This will illuminate the license plate light when you have your running lights on, and you can simply unplug the 4 way harness form your vehicle's trailer plug when you are done using it. I attached a video for you along with a wiring diagram of the 4 way trailer plug.

So when one splices white and brown what does one do with yellow and green. Snip them off?
