i do not know how to spice into the current light to bring the plate light to operate on my trailer.

You will need to use a quick splice, item # SWC502905-1, and splice the black wire from the LED Trailer License-Plate Light, item # LPL55CB, into the taillight wire on your trailer. The taillight wire is normally the brown wire, but you should use a circuit tester, item # PTW2993 if needed, to be sure you are splicing into the correct wire.
You will then need to attach the white wire to ground, usually the trailer frame or the white wire coming from the trailer connector.
Once wired the license plate light will illuminate your plate anytime you have the vehicle tail lights on.
