Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.
Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.
In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Looks great, hardly visible. I bought the 1-up bike rack with the 1.25 hitch option, did not need an extension, everything just fit. No problems with clearance. Thanks!
Fantastic vehicle-specific hitch! I had it unpacked and installed in half an hour and most of that time was finding tools! Instructions were clear and simple, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase!
Just got a friend to install the hitch today. He said it was very easy and he had no problems at all. Ordering and delivery were great! Hitch came fast.
I purchased this hitch receiver, along with a Curt bike rack. The instructional video was spot-on, matching my 2005 Toyota Camry XLE. Installation took less than an hour and I didn't have to put the rear end up on jacks to do it. But I used the bike rack for something a bit different... it held a medical transport chair for a 4500 mile trip. Great products, shipping and service. Perfect. Thanks, etrailer!
Package was delivered and I had the trailer hitch installed before the delivery company sent me a notification email that it was delivered. Super easy install. Have not hooked up a trailer yet but sure it’ll work great. Fast shipping too—great experience.
Received the hitch very fast! Installation was pretty simple even for one person to complete with no jacks/ramps/stands just the car on the ground. Only issue I had was I didn't take off the exhaust hanger first and once the drivers side of the hitch was loosely attached it was tricky to try and maneuver the passenger side of the hitch around the exhaust hanger and pipe. Also, on my car the exhaust hanger has a tab that is folded in towards the hitch bracket and it does not wrap over the edge of the hitch bracket like it did on the towing bracket. In other words the exhaust hanger has a tab that is folded over and prevents it from laying flat against the exhaust bracket. However, when I torqued the bolts down this tab folded out and flat so it did not prevent a problem in the end.
The picture is with my Yakima HighLite 3 bike rack attached. One interesting thing I found out about this hitch when I bought my bike rack is that the input is actually very shallow. When my rack is installed, it does not go far enough into the hitch fitting so that I can put the safety pin into the side as a secondary link for the hitch and rack. In other words, if the main wedge that secures the rack in the hitch fails, there is nothing to keep the rack from just sliding or pulling out.
This is a concern as all of the other models of Yakima racks attach to the hitch solely by a bolt that goes through the hole in the side of the hitch. So any other rack will not work with this hitch at all unless you drill a secondary hole in the side of the hitch inlet to accommodate the locking bolt.
Perhaps on the other models of Yakima racks the hole is closer to the end of the rack that is inserted into the hitch so that the shallow hitch is not an issue? I am not sure of that. At least on the HighLite 3 model the holes in the hitch and rack to not line up.
I had to drill a new hole about 1/2" back from the original hole so this pin will fit and secure my rack in case the main lock fails.
Maybe this is only an issue with my bike rack and not the hitch being to shallow, but I am merely just trying to be informative.
All in all, I am COMPLETELY SATISFIED with this hitch and etrailer.com!!!
Very fast shipping. Just what I wanted. My mechanic said the bolts supplied with the hitch were too short but other than that all went well with the installation.
Nice product but steel is a little mild. Mine came a little "sprung" out of alignment and didn't line up with my Lexus's hole pattern. You could see a slight bend right out of the box on the left side plate tailing inward. I was hoping it was supposed to be like that but nope it was way off. I took a block of wood and wacked it a couple of times with a 20lb sledge hammer before installing. I got lucky and nailed it on the first try. Steel is soft(thankfully)! Sad part is I believe it was packed this way as the package was clean and untorn when I received it. So much for quality control. I was worried I would have to go through the hassle of an exchange.
Easy install for me as I have access to a lift at work. My 95 Toyota didn't have the holes so I had to drill. Great product and not that expensive. Just need it for a bike rack and small trailer.
It helped pull a Uhaul trailer across the country with a 2005 Camry.
My Draw-Tite hitch for a 2006 Toyota Camry was on back order for several months but I received it and it has been installed. I'm very happy with the customer service department and the hitch is just what I needed.
The product seams well built. However when the product arrived via UPS it was sticking out of both ends of the box. Needless to say both ends were scratched. Not a huge deal because they will be under the car. Some primer and pain it should be fine.
I am by far no mechanic but your video and the design of the Trailer Hitch receiver made it easy for me to mount it on our 2004 Toyota Camry. Thank you very much.
Just a suggestion, perhaps you should include a tap which would have made it much quicker to clean out the rusted hole where I needed to mount this. It took me more time to clean them out and would have been better to have the tap.
Sincerely, Michael
Well made and a good value. I would have given a higher rating, but the one I received had one side perfectly welded at an angle that was less than 90 degrees. i.e. Not caused by shipping damage nor temperature change, after it was made. I had to make 2 separate bends to align the 3 holes in the frame. This increased the installation time and difficulty X 4.
Fit the vehicle perfectly!
Hitch went on great wiring kit had everything needed, and the videos were great, the closed caption works well for me. running the power wire was the real work, had to get dirty some, but the wire was just enough to do the job. I wish that I had ordered the drawbar at the same time, finding one around town was harder than I thought it would be. Shipping would have been free.
Mine is a class ii , I needed the 4" rise, and the Solara bumper is fat, I got the 11 3/4 " long drawbar, after I searched for the same thing in town.
can't wait to put the setup to use this weekend.
Install was quick and easy. A little confusing at first because Camry and Avalon are on the same instruction sheet. It all worked out well enough, though. Hitch is rock solid and totes my high-end mountain bikes via my bike rack quite well.
Install took a little time a extra hand would be a big help i use a floor jack to hold it up
save yourself some time buy a tap for the holes to clean them out . has for towing no problems so far, I tow a trailer with my KTM to the race track , three hours one way no problems .
Hi!!
Here are some photos of the installed hitch (36336)! I had a friend install it to my '05 Lexus. He said it was surprisingly the best installation ever..quote-"I can't believe how easy this was!" It went without a 'hitch' ..sorry couldn't resist!
From beginning to end, my experience with etrailer was fantastic!
Thanks again......I'll definitely pass my experience on to all!
No interference with the muffler on my '98 Camry. Easy to install. Used jackstands to assist. With it mounted, I drilled the two 1/2 inch holes and slipped in the U-bolt. Done
The only way that this install could have been any easier would be if somebody else did it for me. Very easy job even if you are not technical.
I bought this just over a year ago and it has been great. I use it all the time to haul my bikes. The instal was easy and it has been very solid. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a receiver hitch.
Received my hitch very quickly and I was surprised how easy it was to install. I am 75 years old and had it installed in 30 minutes due to the perfect fit. Extremely pleased with the hitch and etrailer.
Installed on a 2005 Lexus. I chose to have it installed by a mechanic only because of my physical limitations, however, in my younger days this would have been an easy do-it-yourself install. It fits just as expected. I use it with a cargo carrier (300 lb. limit) and it handles the carrier with ease. The mechanic did say that to install it with all the supplied bolts, drilling into the frame would have been necessary. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that my understanding was no drilling into the frame was necessary and I've used it just twice. I will update this review after several more uses.
The product arrived in a timely fashion. It was very easy to install. It took 10 to 15 minutes to install. The hitch is very strong. Thank you for selling a great product. I plan on pulling a small boat using this hitch.
