Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Couldn't be happier with the receiver - Installation couldn't have been easier (get a tap & clean out/chase the holes in the frame). I've pulled an empty car dolly a few times and a 5x8 trailer extensively and actually used it way more than I'd anticipated. Next is a bike rack to plug into it. 586479

Installed on a 2005 Lexus. I chose to have it installed by a mechanic only because of my physical limitations, however, in my younger days this would have been an easy do-it-yourself install. It fits just as expected. I use it with a cargo carrier (300 lb. limit) and it handles the carrier with ease. The mechanic did say that to install it with all the supplied bolts, drilling into the frame would have been necessary. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that my understanding was no drilling into the frame was necessary and I've used it just twice. I will update this review after several more uses. 665852

In our fit guide, we do indeed state that drilling could be possibly required.

Hitch went on great wiring kit had everything needed, and the videos were great, the closed caption works well for me. running the power wire was the real work, had to get dirty some, but the wire was just enough to do the job. I wish that I had ordered the drawbar at the same time, finding one around town was harder than I thought it would be. Shipping would have been free. Mine is a class ii , I needed the 4" rise, and the Solara bumper is fat, I got the 11 3/4 " long drawbar, after I searched for the same thing in town. can't wait to put the setup to use this weekend. 357866

Well made and a good value. I would have given a higher rating, but the one I received had one side perfectly welded at an angle that was less than 90 degrees. i.e. Not caused by shipping damage nor temperature change, after it was made. I had to make 2 separate bends to align the 3 holes in the frame. This increased the installation time and difficulty X 4. 655819

Great product, fast shipping, and the install could not have gone better. I would recommend getting a M10x1.25mm tap and tap handle so you can "chase" the threads prior to installing...especially on the threads that were not covered up by the sticker and exposed to salt and dirt. I would also recommend having a floor jack ready or a helper ready to support the hitch while starting the bolts...it will make the bolts less prone to cross-threading and safer so it won't fall on your head. I added some 242 Loctite and upgraded the bolts to grade 8 but that's just me being a perfectionist. I also saw some rust on a few other parts while installing this so you might want to get some Fluid Film (awesome product) in a spray can and get a film of this on these parts...hope this helps, good luck! 353495

I purchased this hitch receiver, along with a Curt bike rack. The instructional video was spot-on, matching my 2005 Toyota Camry XLE. Installation took less than an hour and I didn't have to put the rear end up on jacks to do it. But I used the bike rack for something a bit different... it held a medical transport chair for a 4500 mile trip. Great products, shipping and service. Perfect. Thanks, etrailer! 451235

Still great! The only issue, as someone else pointed out, is Ive experienced some instances of the hitch receiver andor bike rack bottoming out when entering exiting driveways. Ive gotten used to approaching some driveways at an angle to avoid the problem. Id purchase the same products again, without hesitation.

I am by far no mechanic but your video and the design of the Trailer Hitch receiver made it easy for me to mount it on our 2004 Toyota Camry. Thank you very much. Just a suggestion, perhaps you should include a tap which would have made it much quicker to clean out the rusted hole where I needed to mount this. It took me more time to clean them out and would have been better to have the tap. Sincerely, Michael 40832

Installed this on a 1998 Toyota Avalon. Have previously installed the same model on a 2001 Avalon. I believe it also fits Camry of similar years. This is not a 5 minute install. It involves drilling, but also uses some existing holes in the Avalon frame. Toyota's design does not encourage the installation of hitches on these vehicles. My only complaint to DrawTite would be that they should not mix metric and SAE fasteners in the same installation kit. Pick one type and stick with it. ***Safety word to the wise: The vehicle model years that this hitch fits would be considered high mileage vehicles as I type this review (2020). I never met an old Avalon or Camry that did not need a new set of rear struts. Do not pull a trailer of any size on an Avalon or Camry with worn out rear struts. If your vehicle's butt dips precariously when you hit a pot hole or expansion joint, you need new struts. Replace them before you tow anything. 852410

My Drawtite trailer hitch from etrailer arrived exactly when they told me it would and from the time my order was confirmed, I was kept updated on the progress of the delivery by UPS. The box arrived in great shape considering what was inside and compared to another retailer who sent the wrong part several days late, it was professionally packed and undamaged upon arrival. Pics are included in this review and not only am I completely satisfied with the entire process, I have no trouble recommending etrailer to others looking for towing solutions. Thank you, etrailer, for quality service. 808236

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation and Towing Capacity for 2003 Toyota Camry
I'd recommend confirming this with the owners manual of your 2003 Toyota Camry, but I was able to find a 2,000 lb towing capacity for your vehicle which should be adequate for a motorcycle trailer like you plan on towing. Now we have Class II hitches available for your vehicle like the Draw Tite part # 36336 which are rated higher than that at 3,500 lbs trailer weight, but you have to go with the lowest rated component in your tow setup as the overall capacity as you're only as strong...

  • Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendation for 2005 Toyota Camry
The review for the Draw Tite hitch part # 36336 which is a confirmed fit for your 2005 Toyota Camry is several years old. It was from back in 2011 when this hitch was a Class I hitch. Now that it's a Class II hitch it will allow Class II bike racks to fully insert and install. Class I hitches have a weld stop in the tube that prevents a Class II only accessory from inserting. Now that is not the case. That being said the Thule T2 Pro part # TH9035XTS that you referenced is a Class I...

I do have an option for you but the highest rated trailer hitch receiver they make for a 1999 Toyota Camry is a Class II, to my knowledge. I would be very skeptical that a Class III or IV exists due to the size of the vehicle. For a Class II trailer hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening I recommend the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 36336. This trailer hitch has a 300 lb tongue weight (TW) rating however, the vehicle is likely lower and if that is the case then this will need...

  • Hitch Recommendation for a 2006 Toyota Camry
For your 2006 Toyota Camry there are only 1-1/4 inch hitches available like the Draw Tite part # 36336. The 2 inch hitch size is reserved for larger vehicles like trucks and SUVs. Since hitch adapter cut the capacity of the hitch they are used on in half that would not be an ideal solution. Instead I would recommend you go with accessories designed for the 1-1/4 inch hitch. The most popular bike rack we carry that has been confirmed to fit this vehicle is the Thule Roadway 2 part # TH912XTR....
