This 1-1/4" receiver is built for light-duty towing and accessory use. With a Class I rating, it handles up to 2,000 lbs gross trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight — plenty for a small trailer, cargo basket, or bike rack. The precision, robotic-welded steel construction keeps the hitch solid and reliable mile after mile.
You don’t need to cut or weld anything to get it mounted. This hitch bolts directly on using the existing attachment points under the car. Everything needed comes in the complete hardware kit, and the included instructions walk you through each step. It’s designed with DIYers in mind so you can take care of the install in your own driveway with common tools.
The gloss black powder coat finish adds a clean look and protects the steel from rust and corrosion. A protective base coat underneath gives it an extra layer of defense against road salt and moisture. The round-tube design keeps things looking neat while staying tough enough for daily use in all seasons.
Pair it with a compatible drawbar, pin, and clip (sold separately) to tow small trailers or mount bike racks and cargo carriers that fit a 1-1/4" receiver. Whether you’re heading out for a weekend ride or hauling gear for a quick trip, this hitch gives your vehicle the extra capability you need without overcomplicating things.

Both of our hitches one on a Nissan Leaf, the other a Hyundai Elantra are in use and performing excellently. As long as we continue to bike, I would install this hitch from etrailer on any car we purchase.

It sounds as if the noise that was heard was the exhaust rattling against the hitch. The exhaust system at the rear of the car is attached to the vehicle using rubber isolators and easily bendable exhaust hangers. Because of this, the actual position of the exhaust system can vary a bit from vehicle to vehicle. When the hitch is installed, its position will not vary from vehicle to vehicle. The large tolerances in the exhaust system is what can allow the rattle to occur. In other words, its not the fault of the hitch or its design. A bit more space between the hitch and the exhaust will need to be created. This is a common occurrence that is easily remedied by slightly bending the exhaust hanger. For future readers, heres a link to a help article that addresses how to easily fix the rattle.
