Trailer Hitch for a 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT

Updated 07/18/2024 | Published 05/17/2018

Question:

The GT is the “crossover “ or “hatchback “ version of the Elantra. I think it would take a different hitch than the sedan. On the drivers side, in front of the rear bumper is a plastic box I think part of the fuel tank vent system that seems to be in the way of the hitch attachment to the frame. Would you check and email the correct part number.

Expert Reply:

Yes, the 2018 Hyundai Elantra GT does indeed require different hitches than the sedan version. We do have them separated out in our fit guide to avoid confusion. The hitch I recommend is # C11509. This hitch is a confirmed fit for your GT as long as it is not the Sport version.

If you want to use the hitch for an accessory such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, then you have to make sure the accessory is rated for use with a Class I trailer hitch. Also, with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.

@PascalC Yes we do Pascal, check out the Draw-Tite Sportframe Trailer Hitch Receiver # 24905. This hitch has a 1 1/4" receiver, a 2,000 lb weight capacity and will work great with your sport GT.
