Expert Reply:
Your owners manual on your 2017 Hyundai Elantra does not recommend using that vehicle for trailer towing. Using a trailer hitch like the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver- Class I # C11424 according to the manufacturer should only be used for accessories like a bike rack or cargo carrier compatible with the hitch class and the weight ratings for payload in your owners manual. Even for those applications a stabilizing strap like # 18050 is recommended and required by Curt's warranty.
I don't recommend using that vehicle to pull even a small 5x8 trailer.
