I own a 31ft Cabin Cruiser boat that weighs around 10,000lbs and the trailer itself weighs over 2000lbs. Every time I would pull the boat out of the water the back of my truck would squat a little and the trailer jack would occasionally scrape the ground. So I purchased this Hitch Ball and mounted it upside down so that the ball is higher than the bumper of the truck and now the trailer is level when cruising down the interstate fully loaded. This Hitch ball is very heavy and completlely solid! I dont hear any noises coming from the hitch at all. Etrailer had the best price around and will always contine shopping with them anytime I need any trailer parts 737092

Ask the Experts about this Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Ball Mount

  • How to Select the Correct Ball Mount
Selecting a ball mount for use with the trailer hitch on your vehicle requires that you choose one with the appropriate shank size (1-1/4-inch, 2-inch or 2-1/2-inch), the appropriate towing weight class to match your hitch receiver (for example Class III) and the right amount of rise or drop to maintain your trailer at a level position when it is hitched. The linked article will give you a good starting point. For example, the ball mount you referenced, # 40331 from Draw-Tite, fits 2-inch...

  • How to Measure for Rise or Drop Needed to Choose a Ball Mount to Tow a Trailer Level
The typical way to determine how much rise or drop is needed to tow a trailer level is to park the truck and trailer on level ground and take some measurements. Since you do not have the trailer but do have a measurement we can still figure it out. We tell folks to measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer coupler when the coupler is level and from the ground to the top of the receiver opening on the tow vehicle. The difference is the amount of rise or drop you will need....

We offer both fixed and adjustable ball mounts that will fit a 2-1/2-inch hitch like the one on your 2016 Ford F-350 Super Duty and you can see them all on the linked page. We do offer an extra-long fixed ball mount rated for 16K, part # BWBMHD30214, that has either a rise or drop of 6-inches. This ball mount uses a 5/8-inch hitch pin or lock such as # C21510 or # e98881, and it takes a hitch ball with a 1-1/4-inch shank diameter such as # C40030.

2-1/2 inch hitch opening are used on hitches that are Class V, and are designed to haul large heavy trailers. In order to reduce your hitch down to a 2 inch diameter opening on your new Ford F-350 Super Duty you would need to purchase a Titan Reducer Sleeve 2-1/2 inch to 2 inch, part # 58102. You should take note that Ford OEM hitches have a tighter/different radius on their 2-1/2 inch receiver tubes. To accommodate the OEM Ford 2-1/2 inch hitch, the corners of a ball mount, shank...

  • Ball Mount For Factory Class IV Hitch Has Play on 2011 Dodge Ram Big Horn
With a Class IV Hitch, you should have a 2 x 2 receiver. You should be using a ball mount designed for 2 inch receivers like the Draw-Tite Ball Mount, part # 40331 or # 40330. The ball mount will have some play when mounted to the hitch because of the difference in tolerances between the shank of the ball mount and the receiver opening. Both may be within specs but up to a certain tolerance, one may be within the tolerance but on the high side, and the other in spec on the low side. Yes,...

My research shows that your 2007 Infinity G35 sedan weighs somewhere around 3,500 pounds and with fuel in it, 20 gallons times 6 pounds, 120 pounds, it would weigh about 3,620. Of course you will need to take into account the weight of the trailer that you rent, anything you load in the Infinity for your move and any other items normally loaded in the vehicle. This means that your 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 must be capable of towing somewhere around 6,700 pounds or more. Researching the...
