To install the Class IV Curt trailer hitch # 14301 on your 2013 Chevy 1500 you will need to temporarily remove the spare tire for accessibility to the hitch mounting locations. After installation is complete and the spare tire is re-installed you will not have any issues with accessibility or clearance around the full size spare tire when mounted in the factory location.
I have included a photo of this hitch installed on a slightly older Chevy truck, and you can see that there is no interference between the spare tire and mounting location and the Curt Trailer hitch when installed.
To complete your towing package you will also need a ball mount like the # 40331, a pin and clip like # PC3 or a locking option like the # e98882. Depending on the size trailer ball that you will need for towing your trailer either the # A-90 a 2 inch trailer ball or the #19286, which is a 2-5/16 inch trailer ball would be suitable for your towing system.
For a trailer wiring option I recommend the Pollak Custom Fit Vehicle wiring # PK11916. This will provided a 7-pole vehicle connection that can be installed on the bumper of your truck near the license plate. However, if you would like a vehicle connection point that would mount under the bumper of your truck I recommend the Pollak 7-pole Trailer connector # PK11893.
Please note that when towing or using any accessories with your trailer hitch it is not recommended to exceed the lowest rated component of the towing system. Please check your vehicle owners manual or contact the manufacturer and determine the maximum towing capacity of your exact vehicle and make sure that the components that you select for towing are compatible with the capabilities of your 2013 Chevy Truck.
I have included a couple of helpful articles that explains the different components of a towing system, and choosing the correct rise or drop of ball mount. I have also included links to the products recommended and a video demonstrating that product and/or installation of that product. I have tried to provided installation videos on a vehicle similar to yours if available.
