2002 Ford Excursion - Roadmaster Standard Magnetic Tow Lights

  • Removable Tail Light Kit
  • Bypasses Vehicle Wiring
  • Magnetic Mount
  • Universal
  • Roadmaster

Avoid tapping into your towed Ford Excursion's electrical system by using these self-contained tow lights. Heavy-duty magnets keep lights securely in place on your towed car.

Features:

  • Allows you to legally tow your car without having to tap into its wiring
  • Eliminates risk of electrical damage to towed car
  • Attaches securely with magnets
  • Connects directly to motor home wiring, bypassing towed vehicle completely
  • Has heavy-duty vinyl casing for superior protection of wiring
  • Meets Department of Transportation standards
  • Fits all vehicles
  • Includes 2 lights and wiring harness with 4-pole flat trailer connector
  • Length of wire:
    • Wire that connects the lights: 53-1/2"
    • Wire that extends out the back of the light: 243"
    • Wire with 4-pole connector: 35-1/2"
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

The law requires that all towed cars have functional signal and brake lights in sync with the RV towing them. Most wiring kits require you to splice into your vehicle's electrical system, but doing this can void your manufacturer's warranty. Magnetic tow lights avoid this problem by having the wiring run underneath your car and plug into your power source.

These lights have worked flawlessly for the whole 2023 camping season on my RV towed vehicle. I mount them on the rear of the roof so they are nice and high above bicycles on a hitch mounted rack.

by:

Extremely happy with the tow bar wiring. Not one problem for the year!

by:
Jeep

They were shipped fast and arrived quickly. These are quality lights with very strong magnets. I installed them on my Jeep in no time after making some steel brackets for the tubular aluminum bumper. Would be nice to have 5 or 6 magnetic clips to place along the wire to secure it to the vehicle. I highly recommend these lights.

by:
2005 Subaru Forester

I like these lights, nice strong magets hold them securely to car roof. I use them because my bikes in bags cover my tail lights. I added LED bulbs because when I tow the car with my RV these additional lights put to much load causing voltage drop and dim lights.

These lights are still working well only improvement I could suggest is if they could somehow maybe put up plastic layer between the magnets and the roof because they’re taking paint off, if they could still make the magnet is strong.

Jeep Wrangler

I purchased the Curt Tow Bar with Adjustable-Width Arms - Car Mount - 2" Ball - 5,000 lbs. initially I was Leary of the product because of its low price compared to other tow bars. I now can say my concerns were needless because after flat towing my Wrangler over 5,000 trouble-free miles I have nothing negative but only positives to report. The best thing I like about the tow At is that it only takes 5 minutes to attach and unhook.

by:

Good light set. Works perfectly and has held up well.

by:
2010 Chevrolet Silverado

Everything was delivered on time and worked perfectly. This solved my concerns about towing my car with my RV with a car dolly.

by:

Fast delivery. Did a test as soon as I received the light kit. Flawless. Magnets very strong but safe for car finish.

by:

Heavy duty magnets gave me the security of knowing they wouldn’t come off. Very easy to install!

by:

I did a mock-up set-up and this kit works as advertised.
Magnetic bases are strong, it should fit my needs perfectly.

by:

lights look fine....

is far better than I expected....very nice. I should have gotten this sooner!!!

2011 Mazda MX-5 Miata

Very strong magnets and plenty of length on the cord for a car in tow.

by:

I looked everywhere for these lights. Lots of cheep ones out there for 2-2X $$ but these are the real deal and a great price. Shipment was early and response was great. Thank you for the quality product.

  • Recommended Braking System and Flat Towing Components For a 2021 Jeep Gladiator With Plastic Bumper
Yes, the Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524 will fit your 2021 Jeep Gladiator. I recommend this as the best portable system for you. The inclusion of the charge line is definitely nice to have included, and the fold away handle makes it much more compact than the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR. Do know that you can add a Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 to your Gladiator if you already have a Patriot 3. You will also need a 12 Volt Outlet Kit...

  • Towing Light Recommendation for 2011 Cadillac SRX with LED Taillights
I spoke with my contact at Tow Ready and using the Vehicle to Vehicle Taillight Converter, # 118158, on a vehicle with LED taillights can be problematic. Since the LED lights draw less power, it can cause the lights to be faintly lit when they should not be. If you are looking to operate the signal lights on your 2011 Cadillac SRX while it is being towed, I recommend going with Magnetic Tow Lights, # RM-2120. These removable LED lights provide signal lights for your towed car. I have...

In addition to base plates, tow bar, and wiring, you will also need safety chains and a supplemental braking system to flat-tow your 1997 Geo Tracker 2 door 4x4. The Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 118-15, would be a good option for base plates for your Tracker. The XL Base Plate Kit features removable drawbars so that when the vehicle is not being towed, the base plates are less visible. The tow bar you selected, RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, part # RM-020, would work to tow your...

  • Which Roadmaster Base Plate Kit and Other Parts Do I Need To Flat-Tow My 2005 Saturn Vue
If your 2005 Saturn Vue has the 4-cylinder engine, you will need Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 3111-1. If you have the 6-cylinder model, you will need Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # 3121-1. Note that part # 3121-1 is not compatible with the Redline model. Both Base Plate Kits, part # 3111-1 and # 3121-1 feature removable drawbars, so when the vehicle is not being towed, the base plates are less visible. In addition to base plates, you will also need a tow bar, wiring or lighting...

  • Will Roadmaster Base Plate Kit 3139-1 Fit a 2007 Saturn Vue with a 5-Speed Manual Transmission
Yes, base plate kit # 3139-1 would fit your 4-cylinder 2007 Saturn Vue as long as you do not have a brush guard on the front of the vehicle. Once installed, the base plate attachments will sit in the opening that runs behind your vehicle license plate. To wire your Vue to be towed, you would have a couple options. The easiest would be to use a magnetic tow light kit like part # RM-2120. This even provides a standard 4-Way plug for the RV, if needed. The more permanent option would...

  • Compatibility of Roadmaster Falcon Tow Bar with MX Base Plates
According to my Roadmaster representative, their older # 5250 Falcon tow bar is indeed compatible with MX base plates. To wire the tow vehicle and the CRV together, there are some different alternatives. A wiring kit like # RM-154 from Roadmaster would permanently tap into the vehicle's wiring. I've linked a video of the install for you. A bulb and socket kit like # RM-155 would permanently install an extra bulb into each taillight assembly. The installation is permanent, but allows the...

  • How to Tow a 2000 Chevy S10 Behind a Motor Home as Inexpensively as Possible
There is certain equipment required by law to flat tow a vehicle. That equipment includes base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. If you just need to tow the 2000 Chevy S10 once or twice, the expense is likely not worth it. But if you flat tow the truck often behind a motor home then you are going to need these items. Check the S10 owners manual to see if it can be dolly towed (with the front wheels up on a dolly). If so you could rent or otherwise obtain...

  • Base Plate and Tow Bar Recommendation for a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu
Of the base plate options that fit your 2011 Chevrolet Malibu I recommend the Roadmaster EZ base plate kit because the installation will be a little easier and will not require you to remove and reinstall the headlights. The EZ base plates are compatible with all Roadmaster tow bars. The Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520, is our most popular Roadmaster tow bar. Along with a base plate kit and tow bar, you need safety cables, tow bar wiring and a supplemental braking system to complete your flat...

  • Base Plate Recommendation for a 2011 Ford Escape Using a Falcon 5250 Tow Bar
For your 2011 Ford Escape, I would recommend using the Roadmaster XL Base Plates, # 4414-1. These base plates are compatible with the Falcon tow bars without requiring the use of an adapter. If you are using your Falcon tow bar from an older application, you may also need the Quick Disconnect Base Assembly, # 910021-00. This base comes with the tow bars, but they are often left or sold with the previous vehicles. After doing some research on your vehicle, I found that Ford does place...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow a 2016 Ford F-150 King Ranch with LED Tail Lights Behind an RV
For tow bar wiring for your 2016 Ford F-150 I recommend going with a magnetic kit # RM-2120. The issue is that the diode kits and converters that go with them are not rated for use with LED tail lights. The best option then is going to be a magnetic kit. And having a wireless system means you won't have to run any wires or worry about complicated installations on the truck. Since the lights are magnetic you may need to use tow light partners # TLP01 in the windows of the truck if the lights...

  • Parts Needed to Flat Tow 1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty for Just 2 Miles
There isn't a tow bar that will attach to the plow or the mounting structure for the plow. I can tell you all the parts you will need but honestly, if it is just a one-time need, you would be better off having the truck towed. It will save you a lot of money. Because to flat tow a vehicle behind another vehicle requires base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting, and supplemental braking. For a 2 mile trip, you can get away with not having to use supplemental braking. I will tell...

The first thing you will want to do is consult the vehicle owners manual to determine the proper towing procedure of the vehicle. From the research I did, the car should be flat towable as is but you will still want to confirm by checking the owners manual. There's a fair amount of mechanical aptitude needed for installation and I recommend having...

If you find that the vehicle can be flat towed then you will need 5 items. First you will need base plates on the vehicle being towed or the Toad. I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit # RM-521448-4. The Roadmaster EZ series base plates are our most popular base plates.
