For your 2011 Ford Escape, I would recommend using the Roadmaster XL Base Plates, # 4414-1. These base plates are compatible with the Falcon tow bars without requiring the use of an adapter. If you are using your Falcon tow bar from an older application, you may also need the Quick Disconnect Base Assembly, # 910021-00. This base comes with the tow bars, but they are often left or sold with the previous vehicles.
After doing some research on your vehicle, I found that Ford does place speed restrictions when flat towing and your vehicle requires lube pump that is currently available from Ford. I recommend checking your vehicles owners manual for specific restrictions or limitations for flat towing your vehicle.
Along with the base plate kit and tow bar, a few other things that you may need are a safety cable set, tow bar wiring and a supplemental braking system. For safety cables, I recommend the Roadmaster Coiled Cables, # RM-643. The coiled design will help keep the cables from dragging on the road when towing.
For tow bar wiring, you have many options. If you will not be towing very often, then I recommend an easy to use magnetic light kit like part # RM-2120. If you will be towing frequently, then I recommend a more permanent installation like the diode kit, # RM-15267.
Finally, you will want to look into a supplemental braking system. Most states now require braking systems to be used when flat towing for safety reasons. For your vehicle, I would recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake, # RM-9400. This is a proportional braking system that is easy to set up and use and does not require any wiring to the towed vehicle.
I have attached a few links to our FAQ articles on flat towing, wiring and braking systems for you to check out. These articles should give you all of the information that you would need if you are new to flat towing.
